Bad Leroy Brown liked .32s anyone else?

I don't think most of hose would fit in Leroy's shoe. As I recall Leroy didn't fare so well as the lyrics go. Maybe he should have had the .327. In another decade or so and no one will even remember the .327. Oh yeah I had one of those in my Chevy!

I thought he had a ".32 gun in his pocket and a razor in his shoe"

His comp (must have been trained by the classic knife fighters in Thailand) left him looking like a "jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone" --

BobF: You make some good points. Where are they all? Especially the 2" Js. I would love to have a 2" J in .32 Long, but you don't seem to have found one either! I think that 'them as has them, keeps them.' The .32 J snubs are lighter than the steel .38 Js and they feel handier. Great pocket guns, especially for the recoil-sensitive and way ahead of a .25. IMHO. Apparently folks haven't been buying ammo for them (the current panic aside); perhaps that's why the ammo hasn't been there in recent years.

Great collection, guy!

Leroy's competition proved that a good carry knife trumps .32 in a crowded bar.:D:D

"Rule #9 - Always have a knife!" Jethro Leroy Gibbs

I like the larger framed .32s. But it's all currently 32-20...A Model 16 of any sort (including a "616") would be welcomed to this little group:

To mix our musical metaphors, "All it takes is looks and a whole lot of money..." Billy Joel (and I would highly recommend that if someone has the former and can do so, they spend the latter on this project.) :D

Actually, all of this talk of 327s and 32-20s is probably more than Leroy (Brown) would have considered. I'm guessing he had a little Hungarian Femaru that some soldier brought back from WW II! It was probably chrome (not nickel) plated and had imitation Mother of Pearl grips from Franzite. I further think that when he bent over to get the razor out of his shoe was when the other guy got started cutting, and Leroy was never able to catch up! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Sorry, wasn't a great fan of the song. 327 In his pocket? Well maybe he was wearing cargo pants. I know those cargo pants are a big hit when you want to impress women.

My huge .32 collection, a .327 FM 2 1/8" 632 Pro and a .32 H&RM 3" NEF #73:

004-3-1.jpg

I found 52 .32 H&RM cases and will reload them with Hornady 100gr XTP JHP over 3.0gr Titegroup - should make ~900 fps. I've already loaded 65 .327 FM Ni cases with those same XTPs over 4.1gr Titegroup with Magnum SP primers and have 179 brass .327 FM cases with 115gr LRNFP over 3.5gr Titegroup with standard SP primers on hand, too. I've tested the latter and found, finally, a mild and all day shooter load that shows no pressure signs with standard SP primers. I'll have 500 Starline brass .327 FM cases due in sometime today, from Graf's, the only place that still has/had the brass. Starline doesn't know when/if they will make more, so I grabbed these - everyone else was OOS/NBO. Midway had some 115gr LRNFP lead, so I grabbed it. I still have several hundred 115gr bullets left from before, but no 96-98gr bullets for my empty ~1k .32 S&WL cases. Times are tough - gotta grab reloading components - like ammo - when/where you find them. I still have several boxes of Fed 100gr SPJHP .327FM and CCI 115gr GDJHPs left from my 'buy it where you find & can afford it' edict, which ended over a year ago around here when .327 FM, etc, seemingly evaporated.

I think I have an old FN Model 1910 that's a .32 but I never use it for anything, it's actually for sale, but I am pretty sure it's a .32. Other than that I never owned a .32 but I'll tell you this - the gun store part of my local range, as of my last foray in there a couple of weeks ago, had an "old"/NIB S&W 7 shot J-frame for sale and it really got my attention but they're asking more than 700 dollars for it. Outside my price range for such guns and outside my collection specifications. They had a S&W 6 shot J-frame in .38 S&W for sale, too - that one fits my .38 and .357 collection so it's mine.

lately my 32 Seecamp has been going out the door with me loaded with silvertips, right front pocket in a Galco PM362 holster.

The 16-4 was made from 1989 - 1992
with a total run about 9000 units. As they were originally made for .32 H&R, does your conversion stand up to all that extra power? Just asking, because the Mod 16-4 is going for a premium and I would be somewhat reticent in messing with its originality.

I have two 16-4's with 6" barrels, I did the same conversion by sending one to Clements Custom, and I'm keeping the other one (which I bought new) in it's original condition.

The way I see it... since I'm unlikely to sell the one that was converted, whether or not 16-4's are commanding a premium doesn't matter to me, should the conversion effect it.

But having said that, I also strongly believe the vast majority of people seeking a 16-4 want to shoot, not collect them.

To me, if you're already a fan of either the .32 cal genre, or just .32 H&R Magnum... it seems to me that someone getting a 16-4 with the .327 Federal conversion would be icing on the cake.

Now you have something that can fire the diminutive .32 acp, .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R and .327 Federal.

But I sure can understand being reticent... it wasn't until I obtained the second 16-4 that enabled me to get off the fence about doing the conversion.

This is the extent of my .32 collection:

I certainly would consider the 16-4 rechambered for the .327 Federal magnum "icing on the cake". With the caveat that I would like to have documentation as to who did that conversion. Personally, I never even considered the possibility of a conversion, but you guys have shown me the error of my ways.

I shot .32 S&W Long wad cutters in my .32 H&R Mag cylinder and also in the converted .327 Federal Mag, but the carbon rings were so darn hard to clean up, I went ahead and had Mr. Bowen make me a dedicated .32 S&W Long cylinder for the 16-4. No more problems with cleaning.

Great collection, guy!

Thanks, you're right about not finding a 2". I have looked locally for them for years. Especially the 032 and the probably unobtainable 332, no luck.
