BAD movie

"The Road" for the win. By the end you have a burning desire for the Model 10 and one of the remaining 2 cartridges-to end it now. My wife watched it with me and somehow we are still together. Joe

Here's my nomination. It's so bad that it's good.

Queen of Outer Space starring Zsa Zsa Gabor. How would you like to be captured on Venus where there are no men; only "long legged beauties"?

See if you can stand this:

I have that movie. Maybe the technicals aren't so hot but the scenery is great.

It also starred Eric Fleming who became the lead in the TV show "Rawhide." And for the gun enthusiasts, the "rayguns" carried by the American astronauts looked like Broomhandle Mausers sprayed with gold paint.

How about a movie that was supposed to be bad, but turned out to be great? For that, I nominate "Detour" from 1945. Ann Savage gives an unforgettable performance as a really tough broad. It was a "B-" movie made on the cheap (and it shows) by a "poverty row" studio. Had it been made as a main feature by a major studio, Savage might have earned an Oscar.

As to a movie that's supposed to be great, but one I think is terrible, I nominate "Breakfast At Tiffany's". While I normally love any movie with Audrey Hepburn, her Holly Golightly character is so insufferable, I've never been able to sit through the movie. Maybe Ann Savage should have played the part.

The worst Natural Born Killers tops the list!Only movie I ever went too where "EVERYONE"left during the movie...except for me & one other person stayed till the end!At the end I started to leave & he said....hey buddy ...wasn't that the worst movie ever made!We both thought is would get better...no way!By the way, large theatre....almost full at the start of the movie!

It's sometimes a matter of perspective...my wife thinks that "Duel" with Dennis Weaver is the 2nd worst movie ever made, exceeded in being bad only by "Paint Your Wagon" with Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood...both movies I can watch, even though they aren't my favorites. My wife actually likes "Grease 2" which is so bad its unwatchable, in my opinion. In turn, she thinks "Airplane" and "Blazing Saddles" are terrible, and I laugh all the way through them.

It can also come down to genres...it's hard for me to say any horror movie is good, because I don't like them. I've seen a couple that were OK, but most (like Friday 13th movies and their ilk) are just execrable, IMO.

On the other hand, I enjoy most westerns...except for the Spaghetti Westerns, which most seem to like and I don't, despite starring Clint Eastwood, who is one of my favorite actors. But even the greatest western actor who ever lived, John Wayne, can make a stinker when he tried to play Genghis Kahn...decidedly not a western.

Manos: The Hand of Fate.....

Every time I think I've seen the worst movie, something else pops up. Some movies are so bad that they are good. 'Plan Nine from Outer Space' and 'Robot Monster' are at least good for a few laughs. Some are just plain BAD, all the way through. Acting, editing, plot, cinema, production values, EVERYTHING is the pits. 'Manos' is one of these. He does have a cool robe with the outline of a hand, though.

I saw, The Legend of Zorro this week on DVD. Really bad. I'm going to trade or sell it.

I much preferred Disney's series from about 1958 or the series in Spanish made in the early 1990's, I think. Both are on YouTube.

I think, Jaws is pretty good, but it grossed out my then-wife and we left about halfway through. I didn't get to see it until after my divorce, on VHS. I think Spielberg miscast some roles, for reasons I can't mention here. The book was better in that way, and some in the plotting, too.

Genghis Khan?

John Wayne said that Genghis Khan was a COWBOY! And played him like one, which wasn't his finest acting moment. It's my contention that John Wayne only played one part....John Wayne. Which most of us think was just great.

One I haven't seen listed yet and it is a definite stinker............

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

I actually tried my darndest to watch it but it was just sooooooooooo bad I couldn't do it.

And as a FYI factoid about the John Wayne flick "The Conqueror", of the cast and crew of 220 people, by 1980 there were 91 of them came down with some form of cancer. The area they filmed in was downwind of the Nevada Test Site where the government had been doing several series of above ground atomic tests.

Should be a matter of personal taste but some just universally stink.
The most disappointing is seeing a flick that should be good and it fails, I looked forward to seeing 2001 Space Odyssey for years and finally saw it about 1990. I don't think I've seen from beginning to end, for me it just fell flat.
What I really like is going in with no expectation of anything and ending up enjoying a diverting couple hours. I thought Cowboys vs. Aliens was a hoot.

Thank goodness. I thought I was the only person who LIKES "Cowboys and Aliens," and "Mars Attacks" which was supposed to be silly from the start. Once my wife realized it was supposed to be silly, she loved it. (She kept trying to make some sense of it.)

Worst movie I ever saw was the first "porn" movie I ever saw. "The Swinging Stewardess's." I was about 17-18 when I sort of half snuck into this stinker. I sat through the whole movie thinking, "It's going to get dirty soon...It's going to get dirty soon...It's going to get dirty soon." Then the lights came on and it was over. I must have looked like a clubbed carp.

Boys and girls let me tell you, if I a grass green country boy didn't think it was dirty, it wasn't. :)

I read a comment from Mr. Wayne to that effect...that he only knew how to be himself, and not how to act. He was a real man, and I admired him greatly. That's rare in today's crop of Hollyweirdos.

"Return to the Blue Lagoon " and you will be sorry you wasted that 1 1/2 hour of your life. I would rate Less than Zero , at less than 0.
