Poor little old Remington 1100, doesn't that one come with two stocks one with pistol grip and one without.
Most any semi auto shotguns could be.
Under the ammended law (this 'new' law is actually an ammendment to the 1994 NYS A/W/B)
An Assault Shotgun is:
Any semiautomatic shotgun that has ONE of the following characteristics:
>a folding or telescoping stock
>a thumb hole stock
>a second handgrip or protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand.
>a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 7 rounds.
>an ability to accept a detachable magazine.
***********************************************
As you can easily see, it will place most any semi auto shotgun with a folding stock, and an extended tube mag into the A/W catagory.
Even using a thumbhole stock will. I know several Trap shooters that use that style and have for 30yrs or more.
The old AW ban in NYS required any semiauto with a detachable magazine to have two of the features to place it into the A/W catagory. This new law ,,it takes only one feature.
There are features listed for rifles,,shotguns and pistols. The only common starting ground is that the firearm be a semi auto w/a detachable magazine. The detachable mag is common to all three kinds of firearms.
Add one more of the features and it's an A/W.
None can have more that 7rds in their magazine from now forward.
Mags sold from now on must be 7rd cap.
The 10rd mags mandated since 94 in the original NYS AWB are still legal to keep,,you're on the honor system (really!) to only load w/ 7rds.
Class 'A' Misdemeanor if caught w/ more than 7rds in a 10rd'r now out side of your residence.
If I read the law right, it's a $400 fine for first offense to have the same condition inside your residence.
So I guess you'll not be charged for protecting yourself w/a full 10rd mag inside your home,,just fined for doing so.
Just don't use it on the street to prevent yourself from being a victim.
Obviously the bad guy will do the same.
It's the law after all.
