Sorry, search didn't turn up anything. Going to FL. Is CC banned from riding on Votran? At the Intn'l Speedway? Banned anywhere else besides the usual, i.e. gov't buildings, bars, etc.?
Thanks for your input

sorry don't know what Votran is, no carry in federal buildings or schools or bars, don't sit at the bar if is in a restaurant, if you are made and ask to leave do it, the no gun signs pack no sand in Florida and frankly every body got the heads up on the phones they don't even see a car coming so watch for the idiots crossing the streets, enjoy your stay in Florida and stay out of the bad places.

Here's the statute:

1. Any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05;
2. Any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station;
3. Any detention facility, prison, or jail;
4. Any courthouse;
5. Any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom;
6. Any polling place;
7. Any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district;
8. Any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof;
9. Any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms;
10. Any elementary or secondary school facility or administration building;
11. Any career center;

(b) A person licensed under this section shall not be prohibited from carrying or storing a firearm in a vehicle for lawful purposes.
(c) This section does not modify the terms or conditions of s. 790.251(7).
(d) Any person who knowingly and willfully violates any provision of this subsection commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Thx for the replies. The statutes were really helpful. Think I've got it. Votran (sp?) is the public transportation system, which was mentioned as ok.

You didn't mention where you are traveling from. Did you make sure your carry license is recognized here and all the states you are traveling through?

SE Florida "Tri Rail" commuter train policy banFirearms/Weapons

You are incorrect sir. This is taken from their web page:

Firearms/Weapons
State law prohibits the carrying of concealed firearms. It is also unlawful for any person to openly carry any firearm or electric weapon or device. Persons in the possession of a license issued by the State of Florida to carry a concealed weapon or firearm are exempt from the concealed weapons prohibition. Secs. 790.01, 790.053 and 790.06, Florida Statutes.

The Big Black Rat (Disney) has carved themselves out some exceptions to CCW. Or more precisely, having a firearm in your vehicle. They used this subsection:

(e) Property owned or leased by a public or private employer or the landlord of a public or private employer upon which the primary business conducted is the manufacture, use, storage, or transportation of combustible or explosive materials regulated under state or federal law, or property owned or leased by an employer who has obtained a permit required under 18 U.S.C. s. 842 to engage in the business of importing, manufacturing, or dealing in explosive materials on such property.

To say you can't have a firearm in you vehicle.

Read Chapter 790 Fl State Statutues. .,

heads up the land of the mouse has added "random" security screening with metal detectors.
as always areas that attract mini vans like starbucks, whole foods, some malls and most movie theaters will ask you to leave but hold no legal ramification.

There are 2 types of banned. Banned by rule of law is what Florida J Frame posted and a violation can lead to a criminal conviction. Banned by policy of the property is not a criminal offense in Florida as far as I can tell. Disney is an example of a policy ban. If you are caught violating the policy you will likely be asked to leave or remove the firearm, but it is not a violation of the law.

Missouri is like Florida in this regard, but not all states are the same. Illinois has codified in their law that it is a crime to carry if the property owner has prohibited carry and posts the property with the appropriate sign.
