I received this response to a letter to the honorable Ms. Boxer (MAAM). Short, curt and firmly in the category of "I don't care". Also note the note at the end "do not reply to this email". Yup, my senator at work. I feel so....unrepresented (or perhaps ill)

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXX:

Wow. A total form letter. That she sends out for probably every message received. Quality representation!

See this is what happens when you let them stay up there way to long .
They forget who they work for she all but blew you off . She is another one that needs to go.
Remember that democrat = gun grabbers .The gun grabbers only look out for their self. She thinks that this will save her job.
lets all prove them wrong and vote them out.

Every couple of weeks I get a paycheck. I work pretty hard for what I make. I raised three kids by myself and I never asked for nor received any help from anyone (financial, moral support there were many).

Every time I look at the amount of tax they take and now, for the first time in my life, I see what my tax dollars pay for I get truly.....there has to be a word for it but I can't seem to find the righ one.

The entire friggin argument is not about how much the "makers" give but what the "takers" are spending it on.

I'm getting tired. My only thoughts nowdays are to try to leave this world better or at least pointed in the right direction for my kids.

Lord give me strength

Popeye, just saying hello. Was raised in Tyler out Chapel Hill way. Served on the volunteer fire dept out there which still exists today. Family still lives there and headed there tomorrow for Moms 85th birthday. Take care.

I'm right there with you Scott! My wife and I both work and the recent sunset of the tax "holiday" reduced our net income by about $800 per month. I believe that other working families are experiencing the same thing. The chilling effect on our economy will be widespread and we all will feel the squeeze. To top it off, our Governor is contemplating higher state taxes, gas taxes and 38 other schemes to reach a little deeper in our pockets...

Looks like the identical response I got from dumb and dumber in Michigan when I sent them a letter a few years back. Now I just save the postage.

It is amazing how quick the buzzards in Washing jumped on grabbing our guns . Just look first Obama care new higher taxes and now gun bans . We should all tell Congress and senate to grow a set and stand up to this JERK .They spend our money on anything and every thing they can to screw the American way. They are for anything that hurts the working man and the little man .
We pay the bills and get nothing in return it is time for us to put a stop to it. Maybe we need a new party in Washington Democrats are gun grabbers and the Republicans are scared of the Democrats and the Republicans could not pick a winner in a one man race.
It is time we get a leader who will not go along to get along with the Washington crowd .
It is time to stand up and demand better .

My e-mails to my reps, state and federal, generally get two responses. The first is just an acknowledgement that they have received the mail, and has the "do not respond to this" footer on it. Then it is followed by an actual response, usually tailored to match up with my topic. I am sure that they have two or three forms for every topic, and who ever actually reads my email, just notes the topic, my stance on the topic, and hits a button to send an appropriate response. The rep may see a few actual emails, but does get a tally sheet of topics and positions. Keep writing!

The "Washington crowd" could also be called 'the elected leaders". They are the ones who got the most votes. If you don't like them, when the next election come up, get active. Vote, contribute cash, time, sweat to support your candidate. Feinstein is there because she got more votes than her competition. Obama won because he got more votes and the GOP has become self destructive (really had to clean that up). All politics is local and all politicians think about reelection. And sometimes, right or wrong, you are the minority and are on the losing side.
Obama had a week of every network showing dead kids on TV. I believe that in this situation, any other winner would have had to take action also. Hard to ignore because it did happen, guns were used, and lots of people are scared. Keep contacting you reps, politely and firmly stating your position.
