I'm getting blowback on the OUTSIDE of the cylinder for about a quarter inch on each cylinder hole on my model 66. I have a Kuhnhausen book but can't find what the barrel cylinder gap should be. Anyone know?

cylinder gap:
The ideal B/C gap is .006". A close gap will cause
the cylinder to drag when fouled from shooting residue. A wide gap will
loose
muzzle velocity and may spit particles. The normal usable range is
from .004~.010"

You're not going to stop this, it is the nature of revolvers.

The only revolver ever made that won't do this is the Russian Nagant. Google it if you are interested in why!

The BC gap is very important for the reason stated above regarding fouling by residue. It also compensates for expansion of the metal parts as they heat up and still allow the cylinder to rotate in function without binding. No less than 0.004".
