18 3/4" for the revolvers, unsure about the 52. Is it a .38 or a recent 9mm Model 52? If it is .38 probably 18 3/4" also. If 9mm 10".

Twist rate in all S&W revolvers, regardles of caliber, is 18 3/4". Except possibly the metric caliber revolvers.

the required twist for the long 148gr hbwc is 10, i thought the 14 and 52, which are intended for target work, would have 10" twist but i would like that verified.

I've shot a lot of wadcutters, and they weren't in ten-inch twist barrels. They stabliized fine.

The fastest twist that I know of in .38/.357 barrels is Colt, which is 1:14.

The K-38 M14 always had the 1-18 3/4" twist.

I don't know about the M52 twist.

The popularity of PPC competition in the last two generations is what prompted use of the faster twist custom bull barrels. S&W never used anything but the standard. I guess their broaching machines were locked into using that twist on their tooling....

Who told you the 148 HBWC needs a 10" twist? They are full of crap, period. If this were correct S&W and Colt, as well as most others, have been doing it all wrong for a lot of years.
