Hi all,
I've two questions for all of you.
First is I'm thinking about an inexpensive red dot for my 15-22 and I'm considering the Barska 30mm. It is $39 at Gander and $33 online. I've played with it at Gander and like it. Lightweight and not a lot of cashola.
Do, those of you that have it, used it, etc., you like it. Is it a good bang for the small buck? What do/don't you like about it?
Amazon.com: BARSKA Red Dot 30mm Riflescope: Sports & Outdoors

I have a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 and absolutely love it but I'd like something to use for 50yds and less firing standing, moving, etc. and while I can and do use the Nikon I'd like something a bit lighter and easier.

Second: Will I love my zero when removing/replacing the Nikon. I'll leave it on the riser rail and while it is not a quick release it is easy enough to remove. I don't care about that. I do care about having to re sight it every time I remove/replace it.
Tell me about your experiences replacing one type of optical device with another.

Thanks,
Kai

I have that same red dot, but in the 42mm version. I like it. I have mine sighted for 25 yards, and use my irons for anything farther

Well, you get what you pay for in most things and optics for sure. A $30 scope is a $30 scope or less when it stops working. Spend a little more and get one with a warranty at least.

Barska comes with a warranty. Nothing wrong with going with a cheaper red dot for starters and upgrading later down the road.

I've got one I picked up new off a guy for $20. It works like a champ. Has held zero on everything I tried it on.
