Battery Powered Grass Trimmer

I also have the Ryobi 18 volt trimmer, my wife loves it. I made a harness for it so I can use it one handed, nice and light. We have a big yard so it takes a couple charges to get everything done. I took the string head off it and bought the blades you can get at Home Depot for it. They come two in a pack, now this thing is really cutting. Sure beats when I had the gas trimmer, never really used it enough and starting it was a killer.

My wife trims, I mow. I bought a Stihl home trimmer with the largest battery. Unfortunately, the battery size was not the problem. The spool capacity is too small. The trimmer is excellent, but all I do is restring the thing. They do offer a commercial model now, but I am heavily invested in this one. I have heavy trimming to do, and this is expected to replace a gas FS110. In an urban backyard another brand may work fine.

For 5 or 6 years I used a 110 volt trimmer with an 18 V Ryobi to do the orchard away from the house. I have about 20 of the Plus 1 tools, so I always have plenty of batteries. It is just that if you don't trim for a few mowings it gets too tough for the 18 V. So I bought a Ryobi 40 V trimmer. The line is a larger gauge and the power is enough to take out blackberry brambles! I sold the farm and then the zero turn and lastly the 40 V trimmer! I still have the 18V trimmer, but no need in the condo. I do enjoy watching other peoplework hard to make my yard look nice!

I have a Black n Decker with 2- 20V lithium battery packs. I think the whole set up was under $100.

I've been using the same setup and a handful of the other B&D 20V home and yard tools for several years now. They've been great.

And the one time I had a problem with one while under warranty, they had a new replacement in my hands within a week. Great service.

Ryobi 18 volt trimmer and blower, both work great on the same batteries as my power tools. Lithium batteries are great! Ryobi is sold at Home Depot and Amazon.

I got a WORX about 5 years ago. Gave my gas Weed Eater away.
The WORX has WORXed fine up til just last week. I had to replace
the battery. Other than that no problems. I am satisfied and recommend
WORX.

My wife loves yard work and wanted a cordless electric trimmer, so I got her the 20V DeWalt at HD.

The amp-hours of the battery are what determines how long they’ll run (and how much they cost). This one is 5.0 Ah.

I liked the looks of the Milwaukee makes an 18v 9.0 Ah model, but probably too heavy for her.

I’d about given up on my Ryobi BC30 gas model. The only reason I’ve kept it is for the pole saw attachment. Then I tried the no-ethanol 50:1 fuel and, voila, no more spending all my time coaxing it to run and wearing myself out starting it. It’s expensive stuff but worth it, and I don’t have to mix.

All my 2-cycle motors get it now and run so much better, including dad’s 40-yo Homelite CS.

Dang it, I was really hoping to go get a new Husqvarna or Stihl to replace the old Ryobi!
