Be honest...do you floss every day?

My wife is a dental hygienist, she recommends flossing to her patients. But some people have uneven teeth or really sensitive gums and flossing can be difficult and/or painful. For people like this she recommends a water pic or water flosser. I use one about 3 times a week and it really works well.

So for those of you who don't like to floss but want to try and keep all your pearly whites check out a water pick or water flosser.

It's part of my nightly routine.

I shoot with my dentist. I can barely get him to shut up at the range I don't need to give him something else to complain about.

I thought the Polident was spossed to take care of that..

In East Tennessee we floss our tooth, it has benefits, we have more time to eat snicker bars.

What kind does she reccomend? I'm leaning towards the John Deere with the Honda engine that cranks out 22000 psi-nothing too big.

Every night for years it's such a habit it is hard to get to sleep on the very rare occasion I go somewhere and forget to pack the floss. My dentist also has a recomended routine using a loop of embroidery floss pulled through the teeth this works real well too but I only do it a couple of times a week, it is thicker and takes longer to do.

You've got to be kidding! Why would I come to a forum on Smith and Wesson guns to write or read about flossing. This is as bad as one of those "if you could only have one gun" or similar threads.

I didn't last night and spent the morning picking beef jerky out of my swollen gums.

I'll be 54 in a couple weeks and still have all my original teeth. Yeah...I've got some crowns but I don't have to take my teeth out before I go to bed. Went in for a cleaning/checkup yesterday. Hygienist says I need to floss more....every day....plus recommended Listerine. Just wondering...how many people floss every day?

Yes, because keeping all of my original teeth is probably my only option. Torii make it virtually impossible for dentures and implants are beaucoup expensive. Floss and Listerine are cheap and effective.

I do floss daily but then again, I'm a dentist. I've seen the results of flossing and not flossing and I much prefer the results from flossing. Sorry to throw around free advise but the standard Water pik only gets rid of the food debris between your teeth. It does not remove the plaque which is what does all the damage. Plaque does not come off with water. It must be physically removed. It's loaded with bacteria that produce acids which is what causes the decay. The start of a cavity is actually an acid burn. That's all the info I can give you now. Any more info and I'd have to charge you a for an office visit.

I floss every day, and use Listerine (...well, the WalMart generic stuff) almost every day.

I used to have a dental school student working for me. He told me to put the dental floss by the TV remote, and floss during a commercial.

Now, I keep it by the computer, and floss while the computer is booting up. It's pretty easy to do it then, or while a file is downloading.

And the food shrapnel on your screen is just lagniappe! :)
