My wife has a friend that she's known since her junior year in High School.
They've kept in touch over the years. Her friend's ex-husband, a pastor, married us back in 2006 in the living room of their West Virginia trailer. They have since divorced, he died of sepsis and she settled in Newport News.
Anyway, we've always been meaning to visit and finally went.
We loaded up our truck and left on Friday the 13th for a trip that was supposed to take 4 hours. Apparently, bunches of other people seemed to have the same idea and our 4 hour trip instead took 7 hours. I didn't mind so much, the truck's comfortable, we had a selection of good tunes for the cd player and enjoy each others company. Only problem is the truck was running hot sitting in traffic.
On Saturday the temps were in the 90's, it was sunny and it was off to the beach.
My wife and her friend.

My wife and I standing in the surf.

Surf smooch.

She spent most of her time jabberin' with her friend in the shade.

Of course I hung out in the sunshine.

The next day, Sunday, at a different beach, I saw a ship off shore.

A cigar at the beach, life is good.

We made sure my wife was tucked away in the shade.

Today we headed home and it took only 5 hours.

Glad you got to enjoy a safe getaway at a beach! I'm OK with a beach for a couple of hours, but I can set in the fall woods all by myself & God's creation from day light to dark. (If the skeeter leave me alone)

I recall a few trips over to Gatlinburg (when I was younger) that should have been 4-5 hours, that turned into 8 or 9 hours, with a vehicle threatening to overheat. Not fun.

Doubt my back could take a drive that long these days. I used to drive from Ky to Houston non-stop ('cept for fuel) and drive 12-13 straight. Them days is just a memory now.

Hope you get to do it again next year snubs!

We'd like to go again sometime this year.

Always nice to go to the beach and get wet and enjoy the sun and a little breeze.
Looks like everyone was enjoying themselves and having a great time.

I did notice not too many people getting waist deep in the ocean.....
lots of people bending their knees or squatting to get wet, near shore, though.

Were there shark signs posted ?

Good beach pics, grew up in Hampton Roads. Chics Beach and Sandbridge were great back in 60's , 70's. Bunch of us would head down to Outer Banks for long weekends, those were the days before all the developments, could drive on the beach, have a fire and cook fresh corn in the sand.

There were lotsa people going out further, just didn't get any in the pictures apparently.

Lisa needed the opportunity to relax and her friend was glad to have us.
They had a great time constantly jibber jabbering.
It's good you could provide the opportunity for her to see her old pal, Snubby. Sounds like a great change of pace for her, a needed chance to recharge her batteries, as it were. (Plus, as usual, you don't look like you're suffering too much from the experience either!)
