I didn't want to hijack Bekeart's post with something unrelated but similar. As many of you have seen, I've posted about scams and the like with far too regularity than I like.

Today while grocery shopping, I discovered a new one. Bear with me.

Having unloaded my groceries into my truck and gettting ready to back out of my space, I notice a h/f in her early 20's with a small child, about 3 or 4 maybe standing behind my truck. She was looking at me smiling.
She appeared out of nowhere and wouldn't move. My instincts went to battle stations as I figured I was being set up for a robbery. Windows up, doors locked, head on a swivel, thumb break released on my S&W CSX.

She didn't move. Just stood behind my truck and smiled at me. No surprises popped up. After about 3 to 5 minutes, she gave up and moved on.

Security explained that this is a scam going around parking lots. The scammers hide nearby and when a vehicle backs out, they jump in behind them to act like the vehicle hit them and then go for lawsuit on the driver.

I'm careful and watchful when I back up...I didn't see her or the kid. I did see them pop up on my backup camera.

Just a word to be cautious as usual especially this time of year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all and be safe.

I pull through when ever I can so it's a straight shot out. Rarely go out at night these days.
