What's the general consensus on the currently produced Beltman.net belts with the change in ownership complete (March 2016)?

I have two horsehide belts that i bought about 7(?) years ago. They're still in very good condition.

I may be looking to get another gun belt in the near future, and would happily get another beltman.net if they're still the same quality belts.

Feel free to suggest another maker If you're not satisfied with the new version.

I appreciate everyone's comments.

I stumbled across this guy a few months ago when I needed a belt in a hurry. This one came with the internal stiffener and it really does the job. Carrying a full size 1911 is no problem and there is no sagging. A Better Belt USA
Check his clearance section and you may get lucky. I had mine delivered in a couple of days.

I ordered a 1.75" tapered horsehide from Beltman about 3 weeks ago, it arrived today. I don't have an old Beltman to compare it to but I can't imagine it would be any nicer than this one, perfect workmanship. I asked for a darker brown and indeed, the belt is a couple shades darker than the brown pictured on their website. I couldn't be happier!

For me it is the Aker B-21 for Levi's and the B-22 for dress slacks. Made here in San Diego County. I have been using Aker leather goods for over 30 years.

I got a beltman belt right before Christmas. Basically, it is the only belt I wear now vs. my other belts. No complaints and thumbs up.

I just bought my 1st gun belt from them a few months ago so nothing to compare it to but I like it alot. It works and feels great. I even carried my full-size 1911 in the woods one time and it was very comfortable.

OP here.

I did read about the thorough ownership transfer process on their website. Actually that's how i learned of the change.

There is a ton of positive reviews on their website, from purchases since the change. The owner also replied to a couple questions i had within few hours. Plus the couple good replies above and I'm sure more follow below.

Looks promising.

I got one a little over a year ago. It's OK, but I ended up getting one from Milt Sparks. The one from MS is infinity times better. After getting several of their holsters, I should have stuck with MS and saved my money that beltman got.

If any of you have tried the address shown in the OP and don't speak German, the correct web address is thebeltman.net.

Howdy folks, new Beltman here. I really appreciate all the compliments from those who have tried our belts! When Rachel and I took the reins from Jim, we knew that there would be some concern among loyal Beltman customers that product quality and/or customer service would slide. But we're not some big corporation that bought up a beloved brand in order to cut quality and maximize profits. This business is our entire livelihood and we're a very small company (we actually have fewer employees than Jim had, as Rachel and I do more of the leatherwork ourselves). And we've put our heart and soul into not only upholding the quality standards that Jim set, but improving them wherever possible. Granted, most people would agree that there wasn't much room for improvement, but at least one person thinks there is infinite room for improvement. ;) In any case, as more and more longtime Beltman customers get a chance to compare our craftsmanship to their previous Beltman belts, I'm confident that the consensus will be positive.

According to your post here, you received that belt two years ago. If the craftsmanship of the MS belt was infinitely better than the Beltman, then it certainly sounds like Jim's employees didn't have their "A game" when they made your belt. There's no doubt that MS makes great gunleather, but I hope you will give Rachel and I the chance someday to change your opinion of the Beltman brand.

OK, so maybe it was two years ago. Regardless of the time, I like the MS better. The fit and finish is much better on the MS. It's hard to tell the difference in the back stitching from the top stitching. I can send pics if you like, or post them. The stitching on the beltman looks like the needle was hammered in. I was disappointed when I received the belt, but I didn't complain. When I wanted another belt (just a different color), I got the MS. The minute I got it, the difference in quality was evident. Maybe they weren't on their "A game", I don't know. Like I said, I can send you pics. No hard feelings and I wish you all the best!

Definitely no hard feelings! It sounds like the needle used when your belt was made may have had a slight burr on the tip that caused the "hammered in" affect you're describing. It only takes a TINY (almost microscopic) burr to cause that, and somebody just may not have been paying attention that day. In any case, I can't say that we never make mistakes (any craftsman will occasionally) but we certainly do our best. And if/when we do put out a belt that is less than satisfactory, we certainly hope that our customer complains. Gives our customer service a chance to shine.

Anyway, thanks for the best wishes, and just let me know if you ever want to give Beltman a second chance!

I sure will! I noticed that you are relatively close to me. I practically grew up around Clanton. It seemed we were over there almost every weekend racing dirtbikes. Now I go to Marion a few times a year to fish. I might call you up next time and get a tour.
