I have two pistols, a 4th series 32-20 and M14, with slightly bent ejectors. There's a little wobble at the end of the rods when they're spun. I could measure this in thousandths if need be. Is this an issue with function of these guns in terms or accuracy or wear? The M14, new to me, is also a bit gritty when the ejector is pushed in and out.

i bought a new ejector rod and center pin for a well worn 14-3 i was rebuilding. the center pin was a little tough to find, but the ejector rod came from s&w for about six bucks if i remember correctly. easy repair.

If you check all S&W revolvers closely you will find some wobble (run out) if your cylinder spins freely don,t worry about it, however if you notice a drag when rotating you can have the rod straightened by any competent gunsmith.

someone brought me a 29-1 or a 29 no dash (cant remember) with reverse threads on the ejector rod. (slightly bent ejector rod)

there was no rods available.

I used a 16oz brass hammer and a hard level surface and began lightlty tapping while rolling the rod on the smooth surface.

I also began to run the ctr pin in until I got the ctr pin to run through with no interference.

installed, tightened and have not heard any complaints.

good luck

A quick and dirty way to assess whether you have acceptable wobble is to measure trigger pull weight in DA firing for each cylinder hole. Unfortunately, this is a one way test. If pull varies more than about a pound between a given charge hole from the average, you know you have something wrong, but it may not be caused by wobble. If pull is uniform, you are reasonable certain that wobble is not too bad.

As CQB mentioned, with a small hammer and a litle patience, you can reduce wobble to an acceptable amount.

Thanks, guys, helpful recommendations. I think my wobble is actually too slight to make a difference. But I may try the utube procedure on the 32-20 just to perfect it. Looks quite easy using a drill press and dial indicator.
