Hello. I noticed the other day that the recoil spring on my version 1.0 Shield 9mm looks like it is bent. It does not sit flat against the base of the guide rod. I compared it to the recoil spring on my v1.0 M&P full size, and the full size spring does sit flat against the base. I'm wondering if my Shield spring got bent somehow and if I should replace it?

5 pictures below to illustrate:

Does anyone know if this is normal, or is it indeed bent improperly and needs to be replaced? Thank you in advance.

Here's a little help with the pics:

Like the man said, it's perfectly normal for a Shield. Shoot and enjoy. If the gun doesn't shoot, then we can help fix and issue. Until then, you have no issue. This RSA should last you at least 5,000 rounds.

S&W knows there is a defect with a few recoil springs working their way over the pressed in retenion button which allows the rod to protrude past the end of the slide. My gun dealler suggested I replace the recoil rod with something other than the OEM system. My gun was never fired with the OEM system. I installed a SS Stainless Steel Recoil Reduction when new. Not only because of the problem but also because I have arthritis. The SS Recoil System made it easier for me to rack the slide. You may never have a problem with the OEM spring...but if you tell S&W your recoil spring slipped past the retention button...more than likely they will send you a new spring without question.
