yep. that happens to me when I load my mags too fast and carelessly.

Interesting. I inspect my mag after I load them to ensure all rounds are staggered correctly. Gun is cleaned each time I shoot. Feed ramp shows no signs of wear or lead/brass buildup.
I forgot to add that I believe 1 of the 3 times this happened the rim edge of the round did get "stuck" or jammed in the magazine.
I'm wondering if the edge of the hollow point is getting caught or something?

More likely, the bolt face is dirty and the round is not sliding into it cleanly. It's almost certainly a feeding problem, not an ammo problem.

Happened to me with CCI HPs too any round nose and no feeding issues. Seemed like the HP was catching the lip of the mag and then getting stuck between the bolt face and the forward lip of the mag, they weren't making it to the feed ramp. GB HPs fed fine, have yet to try out the winchester 555 pack I just got from cabelas.

Rifle was clean. Nary a spec of residue on the bolt face. Slides polished, light coat of CLP on everything.
Wondering now if it was the magazine. I did clean it up a bit as it had some residue on it. I do not hold the magazine when firing also. Other rounds fired were M22's. No issues.

This can happen if your magazine is splitting or the lips are excessively worn, and perhaps due to lube.

Where are the rounds getting the crease on the end of the bullet, the feed ramp or the top of the chamber?
Ammo choices can be an issue, and although CCI is a good brand I personally avoid hollow points in any semi-auto .22. For the last 3-4 years I've been shooting the round nose Winchester 40 grain that come in the long red plastic box (1300 FPS), with much success. I've also had fairly good luck with the Winchester M-22s.

Yea... that's what's happened to me when I've had the problem majorlk described... cleaned the bolt with CLP and problem taken care of... works for me...
