I am looking for a comfortable to wear IWB with my Shield guys... I prefer holsters with Kydex. Any advice?

I have had good experiences with zero9holsters.com kydex products, I've had two holsters and two mag pouches made by them, good quality and inexpensive

I have two, an old faithful hybrid and a PJ holster. The PJ is smaller and I thought I'd like it better but having Kydex against your body that has the shape of the firearm, to me, is uncomfortable. I keep going back to the kydex/leather hybrid old faithful since the leather against your body makes the firearm feel like it's not even there.

I too have found an all-kydex IWB to be pretty uncomfortable, while the leather/kydex hybrids are superb. The best I've used is the Minotaur MTAC from Comp-Tac, which they make for the Shield. Very high quality, very adjustable, and solid on the belt. You can get one in about a week. See Inside Waistband Holsters - Minotaur Holsters - products new home - Minotaur MTAC Holster

They don't make that holster for revolvers, so when I started carrying a J frame I had to find an alternative. Came across Kholster, which is just a bit over half the price of the MTAC. Not as elegant, and comes with more leather than you need, but after you get it set for how you want the gun to ride you can just cut away excess leather with a utility knife. I have several Kholsters now, for both revolvers and autos, and have worn one daily for several years carrying a J frame. They are just as solid as the Comp-Tac, and are available for the Shield in 5-10 days. See Kholster Holsters: Crescent Holster, Infinity Tuckable Holsters

I just received a Latour hybrid. Took under a week to receiver. I am impressed with the quality and comfort.

I am sorry. I meant kydex/leather... like Crossbreed or Galco Kingtuck...
What I wanted to know is not which company makes good leather/kydex holsters in general but instead which companies make good leather/kydex holsters specifically for Shield?

Because of the skinny nature of the Shield when it comes to specific holster for this gun I saw many negative reviews even a company with good product reviews in general like crossbreed...

That's why I would like to hear specifically from Shield owners who carry it in an IWB and have positive experiences...

Thanks guys..

Alien Gear. Reasonably priced, high quality hybrid and comfortable. Downside is that they are so popular that there is a 4 to 6 week wait. Well worth the wait for the price point.

Old Faithful is fine for my Shield 9.

I doubt that I would purchase a kydex IWB for a medium size or above firearm for reasons other posters have noted-comfort.

This F.I.S.T. for my 26 is OK, never know its there as to comfort.

Best

I'm sorry Jim, but we can't answer your question for you. What's "best" for you won't be "best" for me. Even if we have the same height and weight, we won't be the same.

So, the closest I can come to an answer is to say that Old Faithful has the best warranty on the market. Buy one of their holsters, wear it for 30 days and if you don't like it, they'll give you your money back and you can keep the holster. I know it works because I bought one of their holsters and didn't like it. The promptly returned my money without any fuss and I still have the holster.

I find IWB uncomfortable.

Thanks Rastoff... with "Best" I meant which one was the "best for you" . Otherwise I didn't mean which one is the best in the market...
You're right what's good for you may not be good for me but since I am a very nice and easy going guy :D I'll trust the judgements of the members on this forum if more than few of them agrees on a model with reasons like comfort and quality.

Also when I said KYDEX holster I meant A holster with Kydex insert for the gun, not a solid kydex holster...

And regarding IWB being a little uncomfortable I agree with you, especially when you're 6ft tall and 250 lbs like me.

Thanks for the Old Faithful advice buddy!

AlienGear and OldFaithful are exactly the same. Same materials, hardware, Kydex, clips/loops and most of the warranty.

OldFaithful indicates if you don't like their holster you can keep it and they will refund your money. That's quite an offer.

AlienGear indicates they will refund your money if you want to return it. Other than that, they are identical.

I believe AlienGear still offers theirs assembled where OldFaithful charges extra or sends you a kit.

It is the only hybrid I've owned but don't know how you could go wrong. All the others are pretty much the same but cost more. If you compare piece by piece I don't think you can do any better than AlienGear no matter what you pay.

I'm 6'4" 250# and the AlienGear is very comfortable.

I tried on a comfort tuck holster for my BG380 and it was surprisingly comfortable. My bro tried one on for a Glock 26. My SIL has a Shield 40, don't think he tried one though. I will be getting one soon.

Try Clevelands holsters..... pricey but like the Crossbreed same design.
I believe it gives more options for kant angle....

Its called ugly for a reason......

I wouldn't think appearance would be an issue after-all they are worn inside the pants - not sure I'd want many looking down there myself :)

Thank you guys... I ordered an Alien holster... As wittmeba mentioned they are basically same with old faithfull except the price...
Alien cost me $34 where OF was going to cost around $75+...

Now the issue is to get a good OWB with Kydex insert for the same gun...

Again thanks for all recommendations guys..

I have a Alien gear holster for my Shield 9 mm,I also have a Crossbreed minituck for my XDS .45.i much prefer the minituck and am oordering one for the Shield.

For OWB I would recommend a leather pancake holster.

The Blade-Tech that came with the M&P just didn't hold the gun against my side regardless of using the Stingray belt attachment or the Paddle attachment.

The leather pancake (Gould in my picture) keeps the gun against your body and easily concealable with a long shirt or coat. It was about $48.00 thru Walmart.com. 803-MP.

If you dont like the retention I'd contact Gould. Not sure they offer the 800 series for the M&P series.

These are my 4 for the M&P full size. Just my 2¢ :)
