Enough of these "Best Ammunition for" posts

I virtually never worry about what ammo is "best". I have a .40 S&W CZ-75 as my go to defensive weapon and sometimes I would leave the range with cheap target practice ammo it and I still had confidence it would do the job if needed for defense. If it had been a 9mm I would want some good +P JHP ammo to feel confident. For hunting, the cheap 12 ga. shotgun shells seem to work about as well as the high dollar stuff on duck, pheasant, and quail. For deer any .308/.270/30-06 ammo should group under 2-1/2" and that should be fine for any Whitetail under 200 yards. If I was taking 600 yard shots I might need some high grade accuracy but that doesn't interest me.

Inquiring Minds want to know

Not all Gun Enthusiasts are experts and
don’t study everything. We are probably
1% of the knowledgeable Enthusiasts.

I believe new Enthusiasts come here for a
reason and are learning. They have questions
and probably have no mentors. This is where
I would come for Expert opinions.

Just saying

If you want to really get bored read the computer telling you the best 10 cities in the US to retire in, the best states in the US to retire in and this list changes every month with every article. At least here you get the benefit of someone's experience and can learn something useful.

I like the articles on the best countries to retire too. The ex-pat and snowbird stories.

The BEST ammo is what comes out of my single stage press in my basement. I load 28 different calibers and gauges and they are ALL the best.

Do I hit the bullseye every time?.....YES (that is when my arthritis isn't kicking up, my eyes aren't watering and my bifocals are clean.)

Do I harvest every single deer I ever shot at?......YES (that is because I ONLY fire when I can assure a direct hit.)

Do I save my life when I shoot at a nefarious person? Don't know (God has been good to me and I have not encountered a shootout yet.)

Do I not only have the BEST, but the cheapest ammo?....Absolutely (with NO qualifications)

Back in the day, yes we had the internet, on a down day all the guys in the bureau would get together and order a late lunch together. Usually trays of Italian or Portuguese rodizio.
Inevitably, disagreements would arise about anything from sports, history, anything really. I’d stand up and walk into my office and do start an internet search to resolve the argument. To a man, everyone griped that I was ruining a perfectly good discussion by researching the truth of the matter. It was the social communication that was important, not the subject of the conversation.
So, what’s the best .357 for Pocono black bear?

I have only two questions; what is the best caliber for bear protection, and what is the best gun lubricant?
if bears want a gun for protection they have a problem because they do not have thumbs. One of the best lubricants for my flintlock rifles is bear oil, until the bears develop thumbs.

No one cares what you like:(:(:(

"You think no one cares what I like?

I would suggest that if you don't like these threads then don't waste your time reading them.

Or you can become a moderator and delete everything you think that nobody cares about."[/QUOTE]

I often delete everything of great interest to everyone. :)
