Best J frame pocket holster

how bulky are those? it's hard to tell from the pictures on his site.

I use a Galco, Front Pocket Horsehide Holoster for my 642. I've had it for years and it fits easily in my pants and jacket pockets.

John O'Rourke makes this one. Rough outside, smooth inside and no larger than necessary. Costs about $40.

Since I had these photos hosted for another thread I might as well add them here.

Prior to switching over to Mika Pocket Holsters I used the Nemesis (regular & superfly), a number of different Uncle Mike's and two different styles (leather) from custom makers. The Mika's are definitely "less bulky" than the others I've used.

I have a rough suede side out like the lobo...thin and doesn't come out with the gun...works great...I tried the Mika and it worked well but was bit thick for my tastes...IMO, with pocket holsters, less is more.

How long did you try your Mika? Mine took a good 3 weeks to break in and mold itself to the gun (and me).

"The call" is one thing I always plan on when ordering from Bob (Robert Mika). I've placed at least six different orders over the course of time and he always checks in by phone, either the next day, or shortly thereafter......

Does anyone have any experience with Tuff brand holsters? I was reading Stephan Camp's review of the one with a built in speed strip holder and thought that the idea was interesting. He seems impressed with the contruction and design. I was thinking about picking one up while I wait for one from Mika (which I need to order soon).

I made this one. Probably took me less than an hour, I'm sure.

At first, it had a square corner, but I have since clipped it off. I need to make another one but with Naugahyde or something else waterproof on the inside... maybe I can block the sweat from getting to the gun at least a little. It's HOT here most of the time, so sweat is definitely a factor.

I like Mika's holsters also. He also used to put your name on the inside. Don't know if he still does that or not.

am i the only one who had less than a stellar experience with Mika? he sent me the wrong color, i contacted him, rhe curtly responded he would send another, i emailed back the color wasnt that important to me i liked the holster, he never responded. hey it was his mistake why get flustered?

In my very limited experience neither are perfect but I couldn't agree more.

I have a Federal Holsterworks pocket holster that I really, really like. Very similar to the Uncle Mike's pocket holsters with heavy duty nylon that completely covers the trigger guard. No printing at all. Well-made. It cost me $12 on Amazon.com. When I got my ankle rig I misplaced the pocket holster and turned my house upside down looking for it. Finally found it about 3 months later in a boot. How it got there I'll never know. Anyway, I can't remember ever being that happy about finding something that I had lost.

Mika Holsters, [email protected], are simply the best I have seen. Very reasonable price. They have been featured in national magazines. Even I have a bad day once in a while. I'm sure he does too.

Back when I bought all my Mika holsters, I could have any color I wanted so long as it was black.

I've found that Mika's round bottom fits better in the front pocket of jeans and the square works better in cargo pants thigh pocket. Can't say I've found better but I have found most cost a l;ot more!
