Hello again, I am wanting to purchase a case trimmer and was wandering what some of you think is the Best Value on the variety of case trimmers out there? Also will my set of Lee Shellholders fit some of the trimmers? Needing to trim 30-30,30-06,and 308 for starters. Tried the Lee drill type and it isn't working out as planned. Please let me know what some of you experienced folks reccommend. Thanks in advance. Saveourguns

I use RCBS, the newer model with the lever. I used the older one with the collets for 25 years, and finally got tired of slight inaccurate lengths (just a few thousands) due to how tight you snugged the collet down. The new one is dead on same for every one. I adapted it to accept my cordless drill. Took the handle off and turned the head off a bolt to insert in the shaft and chuck my drill on it. Works great.

Lee shell holders will only work with Lee trimmers.

What kind of issues are you having with the Lee trimmers?

I have used them with success on 223, 6mm, 308, 30-06, and 30-30 with no problems.

I have both the Lee types as well as a Lyman, little "lathe" type. I always grab the Lee trimmers in that they have just worked out better for me. I've down thousands of cases without any glitches.

I also use the Lee trimmer for .223. I chuck the shell holder in a drill and go to town. For the price, you can't beat it. Note, however, that I am only trimming a few dozen cases at a time, not hundreds.

I haven't compared any to check the best value. I chose Foresters because of the other chores it would do, which may not be a big deal for you. I do like their primer pocket cleaners which are supposed to be used in the trimmer, because I can also use them in a drill if I choose, and they actually do a good job.

One thing you may want to keep in mind though... The only stores left in the area that carry any kind of reloading stuff only carry RCBS. I like RCBS equipment but their trimmer pilots don't fit my Forester, until I wrap them with tape. You might want to get something that is available locally if you don't always have time for delivery.

i use rcbs, went from the old style to the new one with the lever. i would not buy a cheap one.

I use Forster, lathe type. It can trim, and also do outside neck turning with optional attachments. It can also convert to a power trimmer using a hand drill. Quality is excellent. Same model since the 1960's, but they added features and attachments along the way. It is very compact and light weight.

RCBS, Hornady, and Redding also make good trimmers but are heavier. Redding is the highest quality among them. Redding is also the best quality in reloading presses and dies.

I also like the Forester. I bought the one I have in about 1960 and it continues to give great service.
