BFT marked 65-4 and date of production help

greetings from Italy guys and happy new year.
i found this 65-4 today and i bought it. but i cant find any info about the years of production and the marking on the bottom of the revolver.
anyone know what BFT mean?
if i write BTF police on Google i go to the Beaufort, SC police dept. it could be right?

I think that's the serial number. S&W started a triple Alpha prefix system in 1982 with AAA.

Agreed. I don't see any stamps that aren't typical factory marks.

Prefix BFT puts its production date in late 1989. On the lower sides of the grip frame, the large S probably indicates it is stainless steel. The other stampings are factory internal codes and assembler/fitter/inspector marks.
