I bought a cyclone for my 6"686 and it sticks out the end of the holster about an inch.
Is this how it's supposed to be?
I'm not sure I like the sight being exposed.

It looks like it might be a mis-marked holster. I own a couple of the older Cyclones, and there's a good .5" of leather covering the muzzle of the gun. Yours looks like a model for a 5" gun.

I own one Bianchi Cyclone for a 4" N frame

My holster is at least twenty years old, made in the USA. It is closed, not open like the one you show.

I think it's the gun not the holster. Cut that barrel back to a decent 4" and you'll have no problems ;)

Mine are from the 80s; 3 or is it 4. all run long........ my 3" 66 doesn't stick out of a 2 1/2 inch model.

Last year ordered 2 newer Model 5s...... just not the same quality IMO as my older holsters.

Is it possible that Bianchi's idea of a medium frame is the "K" frame not the "L" frame? If you know someone who has or an LGS who has say a 19 or the mentioned 66 perhaps you can fit that in and see if it sticks out. My guess is a mistake at the factory but you never know.

Well I received my second holster today. I got the one for the 6" Python and it says right on it 6" 686 also.
Still sticks out at least 1/2". You'd think it should be at least 6.5-7" long to give some coverage at the bottom.
My barrel is a bit over 6" for some reason like 6.25" I'd of thought it would more like 5.75?

You can still find quality "vintage" Bianchi holsters on eBay in excellent to brand new condition, just have to be patient.

That holster is also not for a full lug barrel. It is for the shrouded extractor models.

The second holster is molded for the under lug but the lenght is the same either way.

The Cyclone is my work, from my 20 years' designing Bianchi's products. From your pics I'd say 5-1/2" Redhawk, which is we classified as a Large Frame, of course. Your pics also show an L frame that measures more than 6" and the combination explains the large mismatch. The Cyclone has always been an open muzzle design. And it's not your holster that's mismarked, but the label on the bag.

Over time, the K, L, and Python became the Medium Size, and the J and D frames became the Small Size.
