Correct, he's in semi retirement, not taking requests, just building them as he goes. I tried.

LOL...I bet we're not the only two that tried that route;)

Well, you're no Ansel Adams but I think it looks good.

Was Ansel Adams a gun guy? I didn't know that. Love his work, though...I used to have a nice framed print of "Moon Over Halfdome". Now the ex-wife has it:(

I tried to order too. No go. He makes what he wants and always sells them. Usually right quick. One hint he did give me is he makes the K-frames when the antler piece won't stretch to an N. So , the K-frames come up less often.
I used Ansel as an example of a professional photographer. Whether he was a gun guy, I don't know.

Ken's grips and Truckmans recent karma win. Thanks Truckman!
I'm glad to know you can get some use out of that fairly nice holster...I'm still looking for a couple of EDC holsters for my .38-44's, and that one just didn't quite suit my needs...

As much photo work as he produced outdoors, I'd be willing to bet he had some sort of firearm around just in case the wilderness critters decided to challenge his right to be in their home......Ben

Sorry I'm late to the party, but the mailllady just got here...I may not even qualify to show these since they're not elk, however Ken handcarved these for me...My newly acquired 1974 Model 19-3 wears a gorgeous pair of moose antler grips while my 1962 Model 36 no dash is sporting a beautiful set of caribou grips...The J-frame holster also arrived today through the courtesy of CQB27 and his holster giveaway...I'll wear each of these with pride!......Ben

I'll add another

Just checked the mail and my latest set of Ken's stags just arrived. Here are some before and after pictures of my refinished M1917. It came with those bonded ivory grips and I've been looking for a set of original wood grips since I picked it up last year. The contrast of the light grips on the blued frame grew on me, so when these popped up, I got them. I think they look great and really are comfortable and filling in the hand. Thanks Ken!

My latest pair from Ken. Actually this is one of two pair. I mistakenly grabbed a second pair of RB, N frame grips! But I think I have a suitable revolver for the extra set. (Somehow thought I bought a SB set!)

Pat Grasshorn made a set of no-bark for my Registered Magnum (a 99% gun with mismatched grips ....go figure) a decade or so ago........ I've picked up a few more since then..... K and N frames.

Nothing nicer that a Model 18 with stag..... for a walk in Penn's Woods.

"Big" makes some nice looking grips...... but you have to get there first and fast when he posts....... as they don't last long once posted. :) With Pat G you order and wait.... but not too long!

A shooting friend of mine has Elk Eagle Grips on his model 28, 19 and 63. I have seen these and they are absolutely beautiful. They fit perfectly, have lots of contrast and range from $250 to $325 depending on size. Can anyone comment on a comparison to the grips discussed here on both fit and price?

Never had the chance to examine the Eagles. I have 5 pairs of bigmtnman's grips. The fit is perfect, the quality of the work is top notch. The price is less than the Eagles. Search for posts by bigmtnman and you can see the prices he charges and photos of the grips. I haven't examined any of Pat Grashorn's work except from photos on this site, but I have to say they look the equal of Ken's offerings. Also, judging by the number of people on this site, who have beautiful guns and can afford to put whatever grips they want on those guns and have multiple pairs of Ken's or Pat's work, I have no reservations recommending either.
