BILL SIGNED!Well a bill barely passed the Florida Senate// UPDATE

Without having done my due diligence I find this worrisome.
Who and how exactly determines the threat level, suspicion?

"Creates a process for a law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency to petition a court for a risk protection order to temporarily prevent persons who are at high risk of harming themselves or others from accessing firearms when a person poses a significant danger to himself or herself or others, including significant danger as a result of a mental health crisis or violent behavior. The bill also:
  • Allows a court to issue a risk protection order for up to 12 months.
  • Requires the surrender of all firearms and ammunition if a risk protection order is issued.
  • Provides a process for a risk protection order to be vacated or extended."

Yes, if the "act" passes get ready for age changes to begin in other States.

A House of Cards

But the Gov is damned if he does or doesn't.
Well, nearly identical proposed legislation just got voted out by The NH House. And not by a small margin. So, there's hope of clearer minds prevailing. Contact all your state reps about same. I did. There's a great link for doing so under a thread in the 2nd Ammendment Forum here.

I read it as "to be determined" at some time after they create a bureaucracy to determine such things.

They would be Mental Health "experts" Counselors and or Doctors I am guessing.

Pretty much a glorified "Baker Act" and then have a hearing (petition the court) of experts to determine taking away the guns.

I think a very speedy trial and execution, preferably public or videoed hanging, of the obviously guilty, like this guy is would be the best deterrent. Shoulda been done already. The sight of the murderer jerking at the end of a rope, messing his pants would make wanabees think twice.

Governor signed the "School Safety Act"!

Here is his words and a summary. I think his beginning really points out all the things that went wrong! The "gun control" part is raising the age to 21, 3 day wait, and banning bump stocks.

I am still not clear on the actual "possession" of a rifle by a 18 to 21 year old.??

A bit more convoluted as to seizing firearms from someone that is deemed a danger, as I mentioned previously a glorified Baker Act???

I am fine with enhancing school safety and helping mentally ill individuals but the problem is so large, who knows??

This is only the beginning:eek:
