I did that job for several of my customers on their AR-15s. I took the front sight assembly to the mill and milled off the bayonet lug to form a 'flat'. Then drilled and tapped a hole for a quick detachable sling swivel stock mount. Many bi-pods attach to the rifle using the quick detachable stud. It worked very well. Most customers liked that method of mounting the bi-pod much better than the one that mounted by clamping around the barrel. They claimed to get better accuracy with the bi-pod attached to the front sight assembly. I don't see why your 'Sport' wouldn't do just as well.
