My friend Bob Bowen just got back from Yellowstone. Bob is not a professional photographer but is very gifted with a camera. They found a fresh kill in Yellowstone and set up their cameras. They waited for hours in the sub-freezing temps but finally a pack of wolves came back to their kill. The black wolf was several hundred yards away and it was snowing but Bob got this shot. I have never seen a wolf like this so I thought I would share it. Bob is an avid shooter with camera and a firearm. This black wolf looks like the alpha male to me. Here is a link to Bob's photographs, he gets a big kick when people visit his site.

The biggest problem with getting good photographs is getting out of bed too early in the morning and then sitting in freezing cold or broiling hot weather , not to mention the BUGS ,to get the shot. No body appreciates that part of a good image.

That's one of the most beautiful photographs I have ever had the pleasure to view.

THANK YOU

The wife and I spent the time to view your friend's gallery of photos, what an amazing artist and outdoors-man. I thank you for sharing.

If that was near Hayden Valley, the dominant male was a black wolf (I think he got shot, though). Could be his offspring. That should be the Druid Pack, IIRC.

I went through all of them, your friend is excellent in his work.

Mr. Bowen makes my stuff look like I took it with an old Kodac Brownie camera. I`m jealous . Thanks for sharing those beautiful Photos with us. Jack

Fantastic stuff!

I saw a black wolf in the UP of Michigan a few years back while I was bird hunting.

I've seen a few wolves before and always thought they were beautiful critters--that black one was just plain scary looking, especially considering I had two dogs on the ground!

That's a stunning picture with the falling snow effect. My wife and I have property in interior British Columbia. Wolf population is presently on the increase z9lots of elk)

I keep a game camera up most of the year at a small watering hole about a mile from the cabin and caught these two.

When I was in Alaska in the 60's you could shoot 10 with aerial permit, silver grays sold for 450 ave and blacks for 200
