A few months ago I was blessed with finding a 645 transitional for a great price.

Well, the S&W gods smiled on me again. I had given up looking for a 6906 and a 5906 as I had put money away for my first AR. Well, I just happened to check out GB the other day and searched for 6906's. I came across a beautiful one with the box and all papers...and three 12-round mags.

Hit the Buy It Now button for $400 without hesitation as the auction was only a couple hours old. Won't get the 6906 till next week...but thought I would put the GB link up. Will post my pics when I get it.

I think the price was very good...given the condition and the fact it came with box and all papers.

A few months ago there was a seller on GB who was selling nice 6906's from the California Department of Corrections that looked pretty much new...and they went pretty high...so I am pleased.

I figurued the AR will always be there...6906's will only be more collectable...so it was an easy choice.

Funny thing is that I have 25 thirty round AR mags, 7500 rounds of 5.56, but no AR.

Congrats, that is a very nice-looking 6906! I paid $425 for mine and only got two 10-rounders with it, that's a great deal on a great gun (I love mine).

6904 Heavy trigger pull

I bought a used 6904 several months ago. I like it but it has the heaviest double action trigger of any Smith semi-auto I have ever owned. Single action is heavy too.

What should I do to lighten it? I'm thinking maybe lighter mainsprings are or were available, so I'll try Brownells and Numrich.

But any suggestions would be welcome.

Like I said, a nice pistol but I doubt my wife could even fire the thing double action, at least not with the weak hand.

And yes, I have taken it down completely and cleaned and lubed it - I don't see anything wrong internally.
