Blow-up with pic

I doubt it was a double charge even if it was it shouldn't blow up. I am "guessing" a squib or a hang fire where a round went off out of time, if the shooter was pulling the trigger real fast.

But like almost all of these, we will never know as there are no facts.

no visible barrel bulge to indicate a squib.
I believe this to be a case of "I want clean powder" which equates to fast burn rates. This might fly in a 38 but a massive magnum like this is only to be tamed so far.

Any speculation of what happened without supporting facts is stupid, as there could have been numerous causes. Maybe he loaded it with military blank fire powder, turning it into a hand grenade. Stranger things have happened.

Personally, I have always been opposed to the use of high-end (and beyond) loadings. I just don't enjoy noise and recoil that much, plus avoiding the extra wear and tear on the revolver means something. Now if I hunted for dinosaurs every day, I might think differently.

Here's hoping the guy learned his lesson. Otherwise that nice 1911 in the lower left corner will probably be next... :-(

I wonder if he hit the target before the Class 1 download to his shorts began........I'm guessing he won't be opening his own beer for some time either.
