My other post on CD's brought another issue I have been meaning to address. I get Netflix through the kids wii, but I am also an Amazon.com prime member and get their streaming video. However, I can only watch Amazon at present through my computer.

I see that some blu ray players are compatible with Hulu, Amazon, etc. Plus, some have usb ports where a MP3 player can be connected.

Seems like I could still play my old Cd's, play music through an MP3...and then also get to watch Amazon streaming through a compatible blu ray player.

Anyone have this set up? I don't have much knowledge about these players and wonder if they are on the way out.

Thanks...

I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray player that I can stream through. It works well, but the movie selection is nothing like Netflix. I am hoping it will get better with time, meanwhile I really like the Amazon Prime program overall.

Sony's Playstation 3 is what I use. It can do it all plus it has a storage drive for media, USB ports, etc. I have Netflix and Amazon installed on it. It plays the Blu Ray discs, up converts standard DVD's and plays music cd's and mp3's and can surf the web. Not to mention I can play all the coolest video games that come along. Even if you don't care to play video games the PS3 is an excellent multi media device. It also has built in wi-fi.

i, too, am a playstation 3 user. plays bluray, music cd's, dvd's. streams netflix and other similar, as well as can visit any website that your 'puter can. plus the ability to play video games puts it over the top as the ultimate multimedia machine

One option is using your computer video card as a host to your television via HDMI connection. It would depend upon how old your computer and television are.

i also do this...and my tv has internet capabilities so it streams those on it's own also

Might want to try a Roku box - that'll connect to Amazon Instant, Netflix, Hulu, etc...

Personally I use a PS3 :)
