bluetooth speakers

I would suggest you get on the Crutchfield site and look at stereo powered speaker systems and BT speakers. They have an extensive selection and great sales. Also, their reviews tend to be very helpful and spot on.
I have 2 powered speaker systems from Klipsch. One in my living room and one in my shop at work. A true stereo system will provide much richer, room filling sound than a single speaker. They will also provide much more flexibility with multiple inputs and even DACs. I have a turntable and CD player hooked up to my Klipsch 5s in my living room. No need for a sub! I also stream music with it. I couldn't be happier with its performance.
All of that said, as stated above, you will most likely need a source in the room from either downloaded music or a streaming service.
Good luck. There are a ton of options available. It's a good time for consumer electronics!!!

I have a Bose that plugs into 110. Forget the model, but it works great. Besides Bluetooth, it has an auxiliary mode so you can connect it to a tv with a cable.

Ask the young people what blue tooth speaker they like, most of them should be experts. My daughters and most of their friends use a JBL speaker that costs about $100 and it's water proof and we take them on the boat and don't worry when water gets splashed on them. Sounds great. For myself, I have Gen 5 Alexa Echo dots in the kitchen and my bathroom and I'm totally happy with sound and they are under 50 bucks. Its so easy and handy, when I'm shaving in the morning I might say "Alexa play Eagles Desperado" then to energize me "Alexa play some Nugent Cat Scratch Fever. Then Alexa "whats the weather forecast this week". I've owned a pretty expensive Yamaha stereo with Norman Laboratory speakers but I'm totally happy with my Echo Dots.
