A few of his hits were "Take Good Care of My Baby", "Devil or Angel", "Rubber Ball","Run to Him", and my favorite, "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes". If you want a hoot, watch his YouTube video of that song....I think around 1963...really eye opening. Pretty girls, motorbikes, and some of the worst dancing caught on video...even worse than Elaine on Seinfeld...if you can believe it.

That was Bobby Vinton...She wore blue, velvet...my mom played his records a lot.

I went to a garden party, to Reminisce with my old friends...saw Bobby Vee and Elvis, and other odds and ends....

Those are some amazing songs! He'll be missed, but I hope his songs continue to live in the airwaves for ages to come.

For those of you wanting to hear them

Earlier today when I first saw the news, I told my 42-YO son about it. His answer, predictably, was "Who's Bobby Vee?" When I mentioned some of his songs, he recognized them, but did not know who performed them.

Great ( my generation) singer from Fargo, ND. Got his big break as a fill-in for Buddy Holly, when Holly and Ritchie Valens were killed in a plane crash in a blizzard in 1959 on the way to Moorhead, MN.( across the Red River from Fargo) for a concert.

RIP Mr. Vee and thanks for all those great hits in the early 60's.

1961/62 was when he was cranking most of them out.

I was 15 years old and all us boys loved singing this one.

According to the newspaper article, cause of death was Alzheimer's/dementia. I wish the medical community could come up with a solution for these hideous afflictions.

P.S. On a brighter note, didja see those gals in the '1000 Eyes' clip? THAT was the 60s!
