Saw one video where the BG 2.0 was experiencing failure to go into battery and FTF. Also, a couple of times where it failed to lock back on an empty round. Anyone else experience this yet?

On a side note, I have one on hold for $419, and I have a $25 rewards card. I may regret it later, but I'm going to take the plunge. Will pick up tomorrow evening or Saturday morning.

What ammo? Did the user strip and clean before shooting? Saw a video where a guy was having issues with flat nosed FMJ. Then, while showing a ridge on a feed ramp, he says it's the first time he's opened up the gun! Cred failure.

I am on 465 rounds. 400 mixed FMJ (Magtech, Fiocchi, Sellier Bellot, and Blazer Brass) 65 SD (Hornady XTP, Federal Punch). I cleaned and lubed the gun before first use and zero failures to fully go into battery or eject while shooting. I did experience what seemed like a failure to reset the trigger in the middle of slow firing a mag during the first 150 rounds, but still unsure if it was me or the gun. Still not a fan of what I feel is a soft reset on my pistol. I did rapid fire test (basically mag dumps) all ammo and never experienced any issues.

Note that for me, the recoil spring is very heavy/stiff, as are the mag springs and the slide stop. This initially makes it difficult to rack the slide or load mags to capacity by hand or release the slide with one hand after inserting a fresh mag. All got better with use and I can now load the 10 round mag by hand (haven't played with the 12 round much) rack the slide easily even after putting a full mag in on a closed chamber and the slide stop can now be used as a slide release.

I doubt you will have any regrets once you get a few hundred rounds through it. The problem there being the $$$ cost of .380 ammo these days.

I’ve got 1200 rounds through mine as of today. I was shooting 200 rounds per session averaging 4 FTFs with ball ammo. Spotted a YouTube video a few days ago where a gentleman solved his hollow point FTFs. I removed lip/edge from primary feed ramp area and I shot my first string of 200 rounds free of FTFs/battery issues.

I cleaned and lubed mine before it’s first range outing. 200 rounds as follows:

50 New Republic FMJ - three FTRB
50 Blazer Brass FMJ - no failures
50 PMC Bronze FMJ - no failures
30 Xtreme Defense - no failures
10 Critical Defense - no failures
10 Inceptor ARX - no failures

The New Republic ammo is noticeably weaker than everything else I fired so for now I’m attributing it to weak ammo in a new, tight gun.

In almost every case I’ve read about issues with this little guy has been a schmuck who took it right out of the box then immediately ran out and started shooting the cheapest ammo possible. Two things not conducive to success in any handgun especially one this small.

Mine had so much oil on it when I took it out of the box that I had to clean it to get the lube down to a more reasonable level and to be sure the barrel wasn’t full of oil!

Interesting. Did you just use a dremmel? I was seeing FTF 90% of the time with Fiocchi hollows. Zero problems shooting FMJ. Smith and Wesson told me to mail it back to them.

I’ve had no function issues, but if I’m not careful, I’ll ride the slide stop with my left thumb and prevent the slide from locking open after the last round.

Yep I’ve done that a few times.

brand new first time out with the BG 2.0 and same result..BOTH of those things happened to me...AND.. realized both the front and rear sites were offset just a tad...NOT happy at all...should have realized that it's just like a new model cell phone..better to wait for the next updated version.

I took my new BG2.0 to the range yesterday. 250 rounds starting with old WWB ammo (120 rounds), the Tula steel cased (100 rounds), then 30 rounds of assorted SD ammo that I have sitting around, PMC Starfire, Sig V Crown, and my carry ammo, 99 grain Federal HST. Zero failures with one exception that I was mildly confused as to cause. In the middle of the steel cased ammo the RO asked us to finish up so he could go cold. It was pouring down rain (we were under cover but it was Florida rain so the gun was wet, I was wet, and the gun is small with strong springs) so I dropped the mag and went to clear it and I kept slipping on the wet slide so I just shot the last round with no mag and strong arm only. I didn't limp wrist it but the gun fired and the empty case stovepiped. That was the only issue.

Very accurate gun. Very soft shooting. Sights (rear) visibly not centered as reported many times. Shot left. I drifted it when I got home to visibly centered but I can tell you those tiny sights are pressed in by a hydraulic monkey. It took a lot of effort with a brass punch and hammer to break it free. S&W should do better from the factory, not too much to ask for centered sights.

Love this gun. Easy to shoot, easy to shoot fast, easy to shoot accurate. I like the sights. I won't swap them. I did buy the Talon grip spider stuff for the slide serrations and top of slide. It is a tiny slide with a strong recoil spring. The wet conditions really hammered that fact home. Some abrasive tape on the slide can't hurt.

It was stiffly sprung out of the box and the manual safety was very tight and hard to actuate. I sat in front of the TV last week and cycled it a couple hundred times probably and it has settled in quite nicely. Easy to swipe off with my thumb during a draw and about zero chance of accidentally applying it. I like the safety.

Great review, thanks!

The only time I had a stovepipe or any malfunctions with mine after hundreds of rounds is when I shot it with the magazine removed. Must be a common issue.

I thought the removed mag was to blame as well but for the life of me I can't figure out why. It was perfect for the other 249 shots and that was the one obvious variable. I don't do a lot of shooting with the mag removed so I can't honestly speak to this from experience.

Without seeing the precise geometry of the gun's internals, I cannot guess why it would stovepipe. I don't think that I have ever fired a semi-auto handgun with the mag removed.

The only think that comes to my mind is that maybe there is something wrong with the slide lock
