Bodyguard 2.0 problems?

Slide lock works fine. This gun is tiny. If you read about slide lock issues I guarantee that 99% of the time the “reviewer” is riding the slide lock. On this gun I ride the safety which leads me to thumbs high which keeps me off the slide release. Worked as it should every single mag.

To clarify the stovepipe, it wasn’t the classic casing lodged vertically, it was horizontal, parallel to the ground. Front to back so to speak. Honestly I only brought it up to be completely factual. It doesn’t bother me because I think the removed mag was the issue. Just not sure why and don’t have the interest to replicate what to me is very much a non issue.

Like I said, great gun. It’s in the carry rotation as soon as my holster arrives this week. I owned the original Bodyguard 380. That was a tough gun to love. This one is easy. A favored child so to speak, not the red headed step variety. lol

1750 rounds total as of today - no complaints. I have nuisance FTF/battery issues, might be ammo related but no biggie for me. Shot 150 rounds today with no issues though.

I got a bad record spring on mine

I got a bad recoil spring on mine. The large spring is sticking out past the lip of the guide rod preventing it from going into place. Seems no amount of effort will get it to compress and go back in. I told S&W about this and they said they will send me a new one, still waiting on it.

I should have just stuck with Glock. This thing is nothing but FTF after FTF. If I press the magazine up with force using my support hand I get less FTF. This gun is not for me

I have shot 200 rds with no issues. Don’t care about the wide rear sight, the gun is not a target piece, it’s plenty good enough for legal use.

I suspected S&W was really thinking, so I investigated as to why the rear sight is as wide as it is. Turns out, IMO anyway... it's a good idea.
Using a rest, I pinned the front sight to the inside of both the left and right of the rear U sight. Just enough to not allow any space/light through. The results at 10yds. were, I was still able to hit a 9" paper plate. Obviously not center as would happen if centering the front sight exactly between the rear sight U, but for what the BG2's philosophy of use is, quick target acquisition and bang... I think it was a good move as our eyes/brain naturally want it centered, but S&W's thoughts were, perhaps..."get the post inside the U and fire."

Cool story...Glocks have a worse history of reliability in 380 than Smith & Wesson or Ruger. Good luck with that!

2 out of four Ruger LCP's had to go back to rugger.

Glock 42 did have magazine issues when released. The 42 I bought with the latest magazines , including plus one extension, has been 100%.

I recently bought the S&W bodyguard. The slide is near impossible to operate. My other pistols are not an issue like a glock 30 or S&W original shield.

Haven't got to the range yet so I hope it breaks in a little. The last 1/4" it doesn't want to go.

I use this and it works very well.

I've been waiting on mine for two months. Called again today and was told he couldn't explain the delay but would send it soon. Now we wait - again!

I received mine in a couple of weeks but it was the same as the original. While neither of mine were as bad as you describe they both override the flange.

The one method is to press the end behind the flange and get it to stay in place before assembly.

On my replacement spring I took a file and gently removed small amounts from the outside of the first coil the one that overrides the flange.

This enables it to fit into the slide and compress. I just took very small amounts a couple of of passes at a time . Then tried to assemble. If it did not go repeated . When the outside diameter of the one that was over the flange was the same as the rest of the coils it went right together

So far it works every time . Might want to give it a shot once you have a spare.
