Bodyguard 2.0 sights & accessories

I think I'm finally done accessorizing my BG 2.0. I've got a set of the XS R3D 2.0 sights on it, a Hogue Handall grip, a Lakeline No-Pinch Pinky Extension, Galloway Spring Assembly and the Talon Slide Grip. I haven't had a chance to try the gun since installing the new sights, slide grip and spring, and probably won't for another couple of weeks. I've pretty much been living on our family room couch for the past couple of months in constant pain because of a herniated disc in my back. But with surgery finally scheduled for late next week, hopefully there's an end in sight.

I'll report back once I get a chance to try out the new accessories...and the new and improved back!

Wow... that's a cats-ass looking BG2!!

A herniated disc between L4 and L5 happened to me. The pain was the worst I've ever experienced. It happened getting out of bed in the morning. At the hospital emergency I got two shots of morphine and they did nothing to stop the pain.

After MRIs, my spine doctor did not recommend surgery or physical therapy. I had two injections that quieted the pain.
I can no longer pretend I'm Rambo. I'm more like an Elmer Fudd on coffee.
Wishing you the best with your surgery and recovery.

Thanks so much @GnarlsR2 Unfortunately, the injections didn't work for me this time; in fact, only made it worse. Yes, my pain has been absolutely unbearable at times, and so bad that I've almost passed out a couple of times. It's not only my back that's been killing me, but also pretty much my whole right leg. I am soooo looking forward to surgery, which will hopefully provide some immediate relief. I'll report back after that's over with, and then again, after I make it to the range to try out my new, and improved BG 2.0!

About 20 years ago, I had a herniated disc and I had the same sciatica running down my right leg that you have. That's what really hurt. I went through physical therapy for 6 weeks and at the end, the physical therapist asked me to do a range of motion test to see how far I could reach down while standing. Doing that range of motion test caused all my symptoms to come back. I won't ever do that again.

More recently (last 6 months) I've had bursitis in my left shoulder that made it hard for me to rack the Bodyguard 2.0. I'm following a very gradual course of recovery with rest and mild pain killers. No more physical therapy for me.

@pinefd, Your pistol really does look great. I can see that you are dedicated to doing the best possible job with it. Instead of a Houge, I have a bicycle innertube section to add a bit of palm swell. I use Houges on my Glocks but haven't needed one on the BG2.0.

Good luck with surgery and please let us know how it goes. :)

"No more physical therapy for me."

My spine doctor sighted a report out of Harvard Medical School about physical therapy on the back and spine. He said there was a significant percentage of patients who experienced greater damage and injury because of the PT. For a large percentage, the PT did NOTHING to help with the back/spine injuries or damage. Even though the "healthcare insurance" required PT, he was adamant about NOT prescribing PT in most cases of back/spine recovery.

Thanks for the response, and yes, the right leg sciatica is the worst part. I, too, went through PT for this, and it didn't do me any good. I'm actually a big proponent of PT and have had considerable success with it for other injuries, but not this time.

With regard to the pistol, thanks. I think I have almost as many Hogue grips as I do guns! LOL!!!! I find that they really help soften the recoil on otherwise punishing handguns. And considering I've had three hand surgeries in recent years for arthritis, I can use the assist.

Definitely will keep y'all posted on the surgery and on my follow-up range report.

Thanks again.

Has anyone been able to acquire one of the Galloway stainless guide rod assemblies? I've been looking constantly, multiple times a day, and have yet to see anything other than "out of stock". I called them on 4/2 and they said it'd still be a few weeks... 😞
I already have a Galloway OEM strength that's been perfect, but Lakeline LLC also sells them.

Wow, that's interesting! And I absolutely believe it, based on my experience.

I have the Galloway, in OEM strength in the BG2.0 shown above, and so far in the initial assembly and dry fire, it's been flawless, but that's not particularly a high bar. The proof will be how it works on the range and the long haul. Won't know that for a while. But now I kinda wish I had gone with the black finish...the stainless sticks out like a sore thumb.

I never saw the purpose of a laser on a gun that is intended for use at contact or conversational distances. For range toys, I guess they are okay.
Whatever trips your trigger. 😆
Lasers… yes they have their controversy.

Like many others, I put a Romeo Red Dot on my P365XL defense carry. I tried it holstered in a Mitch Rosen OWB at 3 o'clock. I practiced and practiced and could NOT find the red dot quickly enough. I also did not like the interference with my clothing, shirt, during a draw. I removed the red dot and put on a Sig Lima Green Laser. That eliminated two issues that were really bothering me about my defense carry training.

Finding the green laser dot was very fast. The laser grip button on the Lima Laser forced me to focus on my grip. I also discovered that by watching the laser on a paper target at 7 yards showed me my trigger control on every trigger pull. After multiple range days, my POA/POI become much better. With my old age eyesight, I find being able to only having to look at the target for the laser dot is WAY faster. I also do not have to raise the gun to my eye level to sight the target.

I realize there are trade-offs to a laser. The 2 primary ones are 1- it's not visible enough in bright light, and 2 – it gives away my location. Of course, the common complaint about any electronic battery powered device – it can fail.

I have 4 lasers on 3 different pistols and one rifle. All of my firearms see an indoor range day most of the time. I find the lasers make my shooting experience way more fun.

As a member of a range and a group of very close friends (retired military, LE, and high-level security professionals), we hit the range about once or twice a month . None of the guys have a laser on their defense carry. Most have iron sights only. Several guys have red dots. A few have lasers and use them at the range.

Would a laser be good for spontaneous self-defense event? Would a red dot be better? Are iron sights just as good? Or are the chances of a point-and-shoot defense more likely?

For me, my choice in using various aiming devices is dictated by my deteriorating eyesight and the specific gun that I'm using. Ideally, for a defensive weapon, the simpler the better, and normally that would just be iron sights. But with many smaller guns designed for concealed carry, I find that I can't see see the iron sights near well enough to be a good choice, which is one of the reasons I upgraded the sights on my BG 2.0 pictured above. I'm hoping that I'll be able to see them well enough for that to be my final solution for that gun.

Second choice for me is a red/green dot. I actually love using these now, and they'd be my first choice but they won't always fit or mount to smaller guns, and they add bulk to any gun, making smaller guns much less concealable. Last choice is a laser. Definitely solves the eyesight issue, but not always practical or reliable. If Armalaser had already come out with one for the BG 2.0, I probably wouldn't have opted for the XS iron sights that I did, and would have just ordered a laser for the gun at almost the same price.

Lasers are a great option for some guns. I put one on my Keltec P32, and it's awesome. Very reliable, and doesn't really add any additional bulk from a concealibility standpoint. I just need a different holster for it:

And lastly, lasers can be great for beginners and can help increase the fun factor for some people as @GnarlsR2 noted above. A couple of years ago I took my then 23 year old daughter to the gun range with me. It was her first time ever shooting a gun (she's generally pretty anti-gun, as are many of her generation). Anyway, I had her shooting a Ruger SR22 with a laser sight, and check out her first target at 7 yards:

And yes, she had fun! But because she lives 1000 miles away, we haven't been able to go to the range again since, unfortunately.

So, to me the choice between iron sights, red dots and lasers are very much dictated by my eyesight limitations, the specific gun in question and its purpose.

Bought one a few weeks ago and It's much easier to reinstall than the factory guide rod. At least for me it is.
Edit to add: Not so much the material it's made of but the design is what makes it easier for slide reassembly.

Anyone try the Lakeline spring yet and is there much of a difference?
I see they have them in stock.

Just saw your post so you may have the answer you're looking for already but I was able to order mine a month or so ago, it came in quickly and it is a nice addition to the gun. The gun is so soft shooting to begin with it's tough to say how effective it really is but I definitely like mine.
