Hey guys I have a brand new bodyguard 2.0 I just bought. I haven't fired it yet. Some how I didn't notice this in the store but it seems the spring for the trigger safety isn't hooked up correctly. It just stays back and doesn't rebound forward. Has anyone taken this trigger shoe apart and fixed this issue?1000008980.jpg1000008982.jpg

That doesn't look right. Question: will it fire (without ammo obviously) if you grasp the sides of the trigger and pull it back? If it does it needs to go back immediately for repair. If not, well, it probably still needs to get fixed, but maybe it's not as urgent and you can shoot it first.

I certainly wouldn't carry it until it's repaired. Call S&W. They'll fix you up, but it may take a few weeks.

Yeah when it's back it does fire with the sides pressed. I'm pretty sure it's just the spring for it is installed wrong. I'm sure I can take the shoe apart and get the spring where it needs to be (if it's not broken) but I shouldn't have to on a brand new gun.... but if I do take it apart and it is broken will they try to say I broke it and charge me to fix it?

If this were a Glock, I'd take it apart and fix it. This is not a Glock. How sure are you that you can remove and disassemble the trigger, fix it, and then put it all back together? Since the alternative is sending a bunch of disassembled parts back to Smith in a bag, I think I would just let them deal with it from the start. This is not a safe trigger as it stands.

I shot a box of ammo through it. It seemed to loosen up whatever was sticking so now the trigger safety rebounds like it should.

As long as the trigger doozit is coming completely and clearly forward, all the time, you're good.
If not, be on the phone to Smith. Turnaround is quick, and they would likely want to know about it.

Are you sure there is not some dirt of debris in there? I would try an air hose or spray some starting fluid in there before I sent it back or called Smith and Wesson. Even a tiny piece of broken plastic can lock that little thing up. The trigger safety is not needed at all for function, just an added degree of safety, That said, get it fixed, you just never know when you might make a mistake and get something unwanted in the trigger area.

Do not spray anything on these guns like Brakecleen or any product with ammonia that we sometimes use on steel guns. It can degrade polymer and can turn your black gun white.
