With the $50 rebate I'm really tempted to pick up a bodyguard for pocket carry, while researching I have read a lot of problems. How are the new bodyguards without safety, are there any issues to be aware of or have they been fixed?

Anyone? I can't seem to find an answer as to whether or not the current production models have been fixed?

The most common issue is light strikes and it is mostly related to ammo. Not sure what are the others issues you are referring to hear about. Mine has been flawless, it is my edc love it. It disappears on my front pocket.

I have heard of issues with light strikes, fte and failure to feeds.
It seams most of the issues was with the old bodyguards before the M&P, but I have heard of issues with the M&P version as well. I haven't found anything recent, so maybe they've been improved but I just want to make sure before making the investment. If you read threads from a year or two ago, there seems to be a lot of dislike of this gun, I just want to know if these issues have been resolved.

I've had mine well over a year 1300 rounds with no fte or ftf ,shoots well at SD distance.I am very satisfied with it after getting use to it.Mine has a CT laser with lock-title on the case screw no problem.I have a safety cause I have Grand children.SS slide ,low cost mags,a big help is white finger nail polish on the sights.I use a BLADETECH IWB don't even know it there and a uncle Mikes pocket holster.:):)

The issues you speak off were worked out years ago for the most part. Any bodyguard made late enough to be called the M&P bodyguard was produced with the updated striker.

Mine has been great and I carry it the most out of my carry guns. Go ahead and buy one, you wont regret it. Ive had a total of 3 failures in the 3 years ive owned it and it was all with the same ****ty steel ammo.

I bought one six weeks ago and have fired about 75 rounds through it without any issues. Mine has the C/T red laser. It is difficult to see in the daylight beyond about 20' or so, but I was aware of that when I bought it.

The only issues that I have had are with mags. Six out of twelve were defective - they either wouldn't feed with six rounds, but ok with five, or I couldn't load the mags as the rounds all jammed. The mags are outsourced.

I've owned mine two or three months. The only light strikes occurred when I tried to stage the trigger (clumsily).

You may have a tough decision to make here......S&W rumor mill says a new 2.0 bodyguard due out this summer....improved trigger, sights, possible design changes also and addressing the light primer strikes....When this summer is unknown but you sure will not be getting the rebate.....

I have decided to wait for the new one due to the problems with the current model....it will cost more but that's the price my decision will cost me in the long run.

I have two that I bought a couple years ago.

Both run great, except one of them did not like German "GECO" brand ball ammo. I got a couple misfires with that stuff.

Fired a bunch of other brands of "cheap" .380 ammo, and both guns ran 100% with the other brands.

Both of my guns love Hornady Critical Defense ammo.
