I just bought a BG .380 about a month ago. And a Ruger LCP Max a couple of weeks ago. I like the increased capacity of the LCP.

But overall, I like the feel of the Bodyguard (with Adams mag extensions).

It would be nice to see S&W do to the Bodyguard .380 what Ruger did to the LCP. Anyone think that we will see a "Bodyguard .380 Max" with increased capacity?

I think Ruger is getting more aggressive with new lines than S&W.

S&W may not be in a position to release a 'Bodyguard Max' right now - even if they already have the pistol designed and ready to produce.

Unlike Ruger, S&W may not have an adequate source for a new type of magazine at this time.

I have an M&P Bodyguard 380 in my pocket now. The magazine I have in it has a Magguts follower and is 7+1. A "Max" 10+1 would be very interesting though. I hope if S&W does come out with one they do something about that trigger though!

There already is a bodyguard max. It’s called a p365. Do you really want a wider and heavier pistol that is already perfectly slim and light for pocket carry?

Ruger was able to produce the LCP Max without adding too much weight or size if any. Not counting the ammo.

i think there are quite a few who would like to see a hammer fired Body Guard about the size of the P365. The SCCY CPX-3 is a pretty good attempt, though it is a little chubbier than need be. mine have been reliable. i doubt Smith is going to bring out a BG Max. if any company were to bring out a hammer fired competitor to the P365, my money would be on Kel Tec. they are not bashful about rolling the dice.

Well if they decide to build a BG380 with higher capacity it won't fit my needs. i like the size of the BG the way it is, that's why i bought it. it fit's in my pocket better than mot anything out there. quite often i have the little BG in a pocket and my Shield+ iwb. if they made the BG any bigger i would opt for one of the smaller 9's instead. i get it that many people will choose a 380 over a light weight 9 because of the recoil, i have some pretty arthritic hands and appreciate a softer shooting handgun, that's what i like about the Shield+, it's just big enough over the Sig365 to be easier on my hands. the little BG is painful but it's a last resort form of Defense, i practice with live ammo just enough to stay competent.

It seems like all that Ruger did was make the grip of the LCP2 minimally wider to increase capacity. The Max will fit most LCP2 holsters. So, I don't think that it has really changed the size enough to affect concealability. If the same can be done with the BG380, all the more better. As great as the BG is, a little more width on the grip wouldn't hurt. In fact, it may help dampen recoil some. I say bring on the BG Max!

Oldaze- I don't have arthritic hands - yet - but I carry my Bodyguard a lot, and found the recoil painful for my XL hands. I recently put a $12.95 Hogue handall grip on it, and it transformed how the gun fits my hand. I can shoot a box of shells with no discomfort, and the best thing is I shoot the gun better than I ever have. (I'm a stickler for accuracy even in a pocket gun.) I can't tell any difference in either of my pocket holsters, size wise. Just sharing that in case you'd want to take a $13 gamble to put one on yours. Best wishes.

Max vs BG

The Max is bigger...mostly taller. I hate pocket carry though and carry everything OWB. A t-shirt easily covers these small guns. I can conceal a Shield+ OWB almost as easily though.

Sold a CW380 and LCP Custom along with each guns holsters and extra mags. It easily paid for my Max and I'm a sucker for a new gun! CW380 will not be missed and wasn't even worthy of selling here. I took that one to GB.

The Bodyguard fills a niche as is. I can stick it in a cargo shorts pocket and not have to go around with an un tucked shirt. I also carry a 365 in a IWB holster when the weather gets cooler and I start wearing sweaters or sweat shirts. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to make a bigger Bodyguard unless S&W wants to try and compete with the 365 with a gun that shoots a less powerful cartridge. Plus the EZ is sort of aimed at the more bullets, more grip crowd and it would seem to just overlap with making a Bodyguard on steroids. I'm thinking that this might be a solution in search of a problem.

The Bodyguard is much thinner & lighter than the P365 or the Shield..
It does fill a niche for pocket carry, I have ours up for sale & have thought of buying it from my Son & keeping it solely for pocket carry only..
He bought a 380EZ for himself that He loves.. But it's a big as my 2.0 Shield & just a few ounces lighter..
I do need to go bye the LGS & see the Ruger Max & drop it in my pocket & see, Looks way bigger than the BG380 IMO But?
Have been trying to talk myself out of selling the Bodyguard but have it up on INGO for $350 currently.. No Takers but Tire Kickers wanting to trade their Laser Bodyguard for our stainless engraved model..
I don't care if the slide is Pretty as you can't even see it in the pocket holster + when it gets sweaty the stainless just wipes off..

The new Max is barely bigger than the prior LCP models. Barely thicker and not anymore difficult to pocket carry.

I liked everything about the Bodyguard except shooting it. I have had 4 of them. I buy m carry a bit and sell. The one I carry now is the Kahr p380. IMHO best carry gun in a nemesis holster. I love M&p line and own shield 1.0,2.0, and an EZ9. I think what the Bodyguard needs is the max grip width. Just a tad wider. Something about the bodyguard I just don’t care for is that thin grip. I like the LCP max but the one I handled at store had alot of browning surface rust. Huge turn off. And it just felt cheaper than the other 380’s. But at 10 ounces, man hard to turn down

I just got a 380 BG and got it for its size. The Ruger max is a little bigger than I wanted. I have a Hellcat for a slightly larger carry pistol.

I really like the Bodyguards when they function.
I am on my second one, which has developed the same problems the first one had - light firing pin strikes and failures to feed after about 200 rounds. Had to take them out of the carry rotation.
This seems to be a common problem with these guns with no real fix.
Yes, they have been thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned. Multiple times.

Bodyguard Max

This is what I’m waiting for! I’ve owned and sold 4 Bodyguards. 2 with laser & 2 M&P non lasers. I need the thicker grip and more capacity and Smith and Wessons finish they use. I’ve used the Hogue slip ons and that helps some but at 9.9 ounces and stainless and rated for +P I carry a Kahr p380. I want the Ruger max but seeing them rust in the gun counter is a no no for me. I have 3 Shields now and have owned over 30 pistols and not 1 has ever had rust on it. Carrying same shield for 7 years too. Cmon S&W get with the program and make the Max.
