Bogus phone call -- hackers in PC

As soon as I discover they are spammers, I say this is Agent Henderson in the local FBI Field office. What is your name and phone number? How may I help you? Instant hang up.

All of a sudden a recorded voice on a loop comes on to repeatedly tell me that that my computer has been infected with malware and that I needed to call some number to get it removed.

Wow! That happened to me last night (19th). Scary, looked like an official page, it popped up over a story I was reading. But the robot voice just didn't sound right, very demanding and threatening. I was able to close the page and immediately backed up my computer. What I received was very well designed and looked official. For someone who has not been scammed in the past and hasn't learned to see the signs, this newly set up Microsoft page and recording is intimidating.

When the Indians from Dell or Apple call me telling me I have a computer virus I tell them I don't own a computer. They don't waste a nanosecond on me - they hangup and move on to their next hopeful victim.
