BORDERLAND SUNSET

Weather brings many changes to the Borderland. Sunrises are quite dramatic most days as the sun comes up behind the Franklin Mountains each morning. Some days we get really spectacular sunsets. These photos were made the other day from my yard, looking across the Rio Grande towards New Mexico.

Yes we did. The best part of the trip was seeing our family of hawks. All three were out. I posted on the "Range Day" thread about our outing. The photo of the one that strafed me happened so fast that I didn't get a good photo.

WOW! Great sunset!

Beautiful pictures...what a sunset! I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen here in Ohio a few weeks ago when I was deer hunting. But alas no camera. Won't forget that one in my mind for awhile...made the day very worthwhile after not having gotten a deer that day.

I've done the Florida double hitter a few times. I've even done it backwards. Alligator Alley.

Excellent photos!

I love the beach, and we have some great sunsets. But there's just something special about sunset (or sunrise!) in the desert!

Only three months until Arizona!

I remember those mountains well. I used to shoot rabbits in the desert west of Andress HS. There wasn't anything out there but desert. Hwy 54 didn't exist in 1962. There might have been a rd there but it wasn't much.

I lived in West Texas (Midland) for about 7 years, and sometimes the sunsets there were spectacular, like those shown. They don't appear in San Antonio.
