Went by the local gun shop that actually carries reloading supplies last night just to buy some LP Primers and dang if I did not leave with an old S&W (and primers). I am not at all familiar with this kind of thing but it looks like somebody did a ton of work to a Model 10 to make it into a PPC type gun. I think I am going to shoot NRA Action Pistol with it. Having recently come into 4000 158 grain SWC bullets I had been thinking about something like this and dang if one was not laying there on consignment with a really good “buy it now” price. 6” custom barrel, under barrel weight, Bomar rib, DAO VERY slick action, stippled back strap and front of trigger guard, winged cylinder button. I think it will be a whole lot of fun for very little money and an old warrior that needs to be back in the game. Oh, how much you say? $350 OTD. Try building it for that, even if you had an old 10 laying around!

That is VERY nice!
I have one like that on my wish list for a while now.

Any names on the barrel?

The grips look kinda like the Davis grips?

I like that weight under the barrel too.

I bet that action is so smooth!

Color me jealous :)

Evidently, you haven't had the pleasure of shooting a really fine PPC-prepped .38 Special.

It should amaze you how soft shooting and accurate it is, and the action will be like no self-defense type Model 10 that you've ever shot.

You will LOVE that revolver!!!

BTW, use Federal primers with this tack-driver and none other!

Great guns, usually a Douglas bbl was used. I always wanted one with a 4" bbl and a winged Aristocrat rib. Enjoy this gun, it's going to be fun!

Your under barrel weight looks great, I used to make them from 5/8" square stock and yours looks great, much more refined than what we sold in the 80's also I suspect that the revolver is set up for double action shooting because of the trigger stop, We use to set them where you could pull back pretty hard and when you hit the stop just a liittle more and it would break, almost every one shot double action with these. As a matter of fact, no I haven't, YET!
You will LOVE that revolver!!! Already do!

Just happen to have 1,000 Fed SP primers laid in just for .38 target loads. Had intended them for wadcutters to shoot in my 52 but they may end up behind 158 SWC in this gun.I have been unable to find any distinguishing marks on this gun other than those put on it by S&W. I mean it is plum sanitized. There are not even any marks on the grips, inside or out. We had a very talented Gunsmith here locally who was probably at his peak about the time this kind of thing would have been in vogue who may have built this but I would expect it to be marked if he did it. More likely is that it was done by a local shooter who was an advanced hobbyist type gunsmith. I did not know him and he has passed on but I understand he was heavily into all types of competitive pistol shooting, had built guns for himself and others, and his estate had some guns on consignment at this particular gun shop. They would not tell me who consigned the gun but I shoot with several of his old cronies at his old club and I suspect that one of them will recognize the gun if it was one of his. I hope it turns out to be one of his guns as he is somewhat of a legend around here and they have an annual memorial match named in his honor. If it turns out to be his gun I will definitely shoot it in his memorial match to honor him. But I better practice so my shooting will honor him!

Very interesting to say the least!! I'd jump on something like that myself. I like special guns, and am fond of model 10's. Let us know how she shoots! Bob
