I went to a M&P40 PC Ported running a Trijicon RM07 as my primary SD carry gun about three years ago.
I'v put about three thousand rounds through it without a single malfunction of any kind.
My wife and shooting buddy liked the RMR but didn't care too much for the .40s snap so when I recently got the opportunity to buy an unfired PC9 Ported with a Trijicon RM06 I bought it for her.
It has the entire Apex works (plus additional extra ((??)) Apex stuff), two extra mags, and 400 rounds of ammo.
We've shot it one time and after putting in a lighter weight flat wound recoil spring it functioned flawlessly with the cheap ammo and also the light loads she runs in the custom Browning HiPower I built up for her.
I roughed in the RMR before we even shot it and then fine tuned it for her down at our range.
I put the small rear back strap on and that seems to fit her best.
She is a very happy RMR / M&P owner.
We took some phone videos of shooting it at a "fairly rapid" pace and the the muzzle hardly rises at all and I dumped an entire mag on a steel IDPA type target and tracking the dot is very easy.
I'd never consider it as a SD gun with the Apex stuff but it sure is a fun range gun.
