Bought on Auction a Model 10-7 6"

today for $300 plus $30 shipping. I am not that experienced but had recently decided I wanted a Model 10 with 6" barrel. I love to buy pristine guns LNIB with papers etc but I am also willing to buy guns sometimes that are simple range guns that might have a few little problems. This one has very nice bluing and excellent factory grips and was made about 1980. It has some scattered little crusts of rust on the backstrap and around the t/g. I do not have the gun yet and the photos are not real detailed but I could not pass it up for 3 bills from what I have seen other 6" selling for. The rust spots do not appear to be bad but photos are not always accurate I know. This will be a simple range gun to punch paper. I think I did fine price wise and there is a 3 day inspection period if I felt I had to return it.
I invite frank comments about price paid. I have other Smith revolvers but not that experienced. When I get this gun I will attempt to post photos of it along with a LNIB 64-1 that is on the way also.

I think you did just fine on the price. In my opinion the days of cheap nice K-frames are about over. I've been looking for a six inch M-10 for quite awhile now as I have a hangup about online buying and so far none has shown up at a local LGS yet. Enjoy that one and post some pis's when you get it.

I understand your concern

about online buying but holding out for a gun show or gun shop find takes so long and then the prices are often higher. (I live in Iowa so the population base is much smaller than some areas.) I have succumbed to buying guns online...usually from GB and Auction Arms and have rarely been burned and never on a gun costing more than $175....once when I was naive I was. But now I make sure that the seller has a return policy after inspection and this does on the SW Model 10.

I picked up this Mod 10-5 at a gun show from an individual looking to sell. $150 got me a shooter that is great outside of the significant holster wear on the cylinder and barrel tip. Exactly what I wanted - a gun I don't have to worry about scratching that has a pristine cousin in my safe and a low price tag.

My sights are now set on a Mod 36 snub in similar condition.

I like "used" guns (but not abused... unless I get them CHEAP and I can fix them... ). I have no problem with pits and worn finish. These guns have character. ;-)
