His recommendations seemed like a good idea but in my opinion criminals will always be able to obtain guns even if there was a nationwide ban on the sale of firearms. It kind of reminds me of a sign my grandpa had in his photography studio that read "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" (He was a former trap shooter and NRA member). My question is would stricter gun control on these loophole gun shows really have any effect at all on criminals obtaining firearms?
Obviously, it would have little or no effect at all on criminals possessing guns. However, the antis have no interest in logic, truth, justice, apple pie, the American Way, or Superman. They blindly see guns as evil objects that can do no good except in the hands of the police or the military. They completely trust those two entities to protect them. What they seek to do is ban the private sale of firearms. In my experience, 95-99% of the firearms transactions at gun shows involve a FFL holder, either as buyer or seller.

I wish the people writing these articles could at least be correct as far as them terming AR-15's and AK-47 variants as "asault rifles". By definition, an assault rifle is a machine gun.....not a semi auto rifle!

I'm still trying to find the loophole they mention. how are the rules at gunshows any different than out in the public? I can sell to any person in the state I believe not to be restricted from buying guns. nothing changes at a gun show. sure it's a sanctioned meeting place but meetings can be arranged anyplace. there are just too many people who believe this stuff. I just tell everyone who is concerned to visit a few gun shows for themselves and make up their own minds. funny how the only people who find a problem are the paid left wing reporters.

No! An assault rifle is anything that looks mean. No honest person could possibly have a use for it. Therefore it must be banned.
That's the logic anyway.
And last I checked even neo-Nazism was protected under the 1st Amendment.

I've been regularly attending gun shows for nearly forty years. I'm sure that some where along the line, and illegal transaction as taken place, but from my observations, a gun show is just what it is. It is a venue in which the seller and buyer come together.
A regular "dealer" has no interest in doing illegal sales because of the risk involved. The private seller just sells like he would anywhere else.
I've seen crooked dealers and I'm sure straw purchases have taken place, but they will take place other places too.
On the whole, I would say the I's are dotted and the t's crossed more at gunshows than anywhere else.
I tend to dismiss articles like this as just liberal BS. To hell with the facts, just push your agenda.

I actually saw a group (12) of what I would call 'neo-nazi youths' at a gun show once. Black flight jackets , black BDU pants , shined boots with red laces , buzzed haircuts , etc. They actualy formed up in ranks in the parking lot , and walked single file in lock-step thru the isles. And yes , their 'leader' did have a Hitler moustache and haircut.
