Brass Deflector

Anyone using a brass deflector?

Never had to. The integral deflector on the upper by the ejection port if an AR-15 does the job.

Why? Are you left-handed?

Until I searched for "AR15 Brass Deflector", I didn't even know they made them. Apparently, they're used mostly by left-handed shooters. It's an add-on device to keep the trajectory down, and to the side.

My shell deflector works just fine. Puts them about 6" in front of the muzzle, and 3'-0" to the right. When I pick up the spent brass, it never covers an area larger than 12" square.

Unless you're asking about a shell deflector. Do you have a "slick-sided" upper receiver? Is there no built-in shell deflector (that "bump" behind the ejection port)?

The only brass deflector I used was in the service when we went to the range, to keep the brass from landing on the guy next to you. I am interesting in the brass catcher, wondering how well those work.

I'm left handed and dont need one so I don't see the point to them

The older AR15s didn't have the built-in deflector that you find on them these days. Shooting left-handed and prone was a real adventure, as there was a very good chance you'd get hot brass down the back of your shirt.

So far I haven't had a problem firing my M&P15OR in any position, except for at an indoor range, where the brass was bouncing off the bench/lane wall and back onto me.

I was away from the platform for a lot of years and when I got back into it I wondered what that bump on the side of the receiver was for. I kinda missed my old slick sided A1.

I have one of those too, wish I could figure out how to install one on my M&P, I reload so I pick up my brass, problem is that the older I get the farther away the ground gets
