Brinks trade-in M&P 40c

Picked one of these up for $255 OTD. Not an outstanding price as it only came with one magazine and backstrap adapter. I did find the Brinks logo on the top of the slide interesting. This will probably replace my KAHR CW40 that is my winter carry. Not that I've had any problems with the KAHR but the M&P, C grips seem to fit my hand better.

Will the 2.0 magazines fit? I'm seeing references to 10rd mags, 13 rd mags and 15 rd mags with adapters. Any particular problems with the 40 caliber 1.0 versions? Seems to have been a lot of concerns about accuracy in the 9mm versions.

Yes they will. The 10 round mags are the OEM mags for the 1.0 Compact. The 13 rounds are the OEM for the 2.0 Compact. The 15 rounds are the OEM for the Full size and fit both versions.

Note that the larger mags will stick out more and leave a gap below the grip. XGRIP makes and adapter to close it up for the 15 round mags.

There are spacers for the 2.0 mags, but these are made to use the 15 rounds mags in the 2.0 compact (13 rounds). I don't know how they'll work on a 1.0.

Every M&P Brinks used came with 3 magazines. Also should have tritium sights. The compacts issued were for the money processing room or an inside employee or supervisor. They offered the employees first crack at the trade ins at around $300. Very few employees wanted them. They now all carry full size FN 509's. A much better gun.

OK, here are two pictures. A few years ago when Aim Surplus was selling the M&P 45 mid lengths for $225 shipped I bought one and really like it. I regretted not buying a 40 S&W version when they were inexpensive. I didn't plan on buying a compact but the Brinks logo pushed me over the edge. No pun intended. To be honest my final price will be $265, the shop that handles my transfers raised their price to $20 since my last purchase. I'm OK with that.

For the price, it looks great

Shoot Straight is only about 1/2 hour drive from me and they still have some of these. I mat go grab one even though I am not a 40 S&W guy.

I LOVE the M&P in 357. Full size and compact.

That's interesting. My best friend is a big fan of the 357 Sig while I prefer the 40 S&W. I view the 40 as an updated version of the old 38 WCF, which had a decent reputation as a fight stopper. I look at the 357 Sig and think Ya know, if they had only made the M1 Carbine in a caliber like this.....

When the Texas DPS was evaluating the 357SIG cartridge (1993/94) I was working Dallas County. I had friends that were involved in the project.

For a Highway Patrol environment, the 357SIG is superior to the 40 S&W. The 357SIG outperforms the 40 in windshield and car door penetration, things that are pretty much meaningless to a City Police Officer or someone intending to carry for personal protection.

Would something like this satisfy that want for an M1 Carbine?

If you want to empty the magazine, the MP5 is capable of putting 30 rounds down range in about 2 seconds.

It is pretty effective in single fire mode as well

I have one of those pistols, and like it quite a bit. All it takes is a mag and a barrel to change to 9mm if you want, and just a barrel for the .357 SIG. I like mine in the original .40, though. A set of Talon grips would be a worthwhile addition.

I had an M&P .40c that I sold to my son-in-law. It was a very soft shooting and accurate .40, he still has it and it has become his truck gun. Great pistol!

Check your local dealers first! I picked up a 40 Compact came with a total of 4 grip inserts and two 13 round mags plus 2X grips to add on to the 15 round M&P full size mags brand new out the door 349! Worth looking into from your local dealers see what they can do for you first. Just my two cents worth! George

Just picked up one of these Brinks trade ins from Shoot Straight yesterday.

Gun was dirty as could be, some slight holster marks but after a nice cleaning looks good as new.

Sights are worn but thats an easy replacement.

I like it very much so far.

I've been happy with mine so far. Found a couple magazines and now am looking for a holster. To me it has less felt recoil than the KAHR CW40 it will probably replace.

I only have outside holsters for it. I have a M&P (full size cause I had the 2.0 before) Safariland ALS holster and a leather holster.

Fits in both perfectly.
