Brought Something Special Home Today

To the best of my knowledge all of these model 26-1 overrun guns shipped to GT Distributors in Georgia. I purchased mine in 2012 at the collectors symposium from Bill Orr himself who was selling it for one of the members that had bought it a long time ago. The serial prefix on mine is BBY the special order code is 8344 which makes it manufactured in December of 1988 a factory letter will probably only show that it shipped to GT Distributors sometime in 1989. I paid more for mine than I have ever paid for a revolver and had to have it. It is still in the collection today with a custom built model 25-9 with a 5-in tapered Barrel that was done at the performance center many years ago.

Just for a point of reference mine has the newer style frame with the rounded edges and the newer yolk retention screw with the spring plunger the same as my model 25-9 the serial prefix on my 25-9 is BEV, of course I have nicknamed her Beverly if I can figure out how to post photos on the Forum these days I may take a picture of the pair and share either way whatever you paid it is worth it these are scarce as hen's teeth and highly collectible and great investment guns for in the future who knows what they will be worth.

My purchase was serendipity at its best. I had a list of guns I wanted to bid on before I went to an auction preview. Once I finish my list, I cruise the table to see if anything catches my eye. This revolver jumped up and said "You must buy me!" I knew nothing about the 26-1 at that moment. I just knew that it looked fantastic and was in better shape than some guns I've bought new. The 5" tapered barrel on an N-frame is kinda perfect to my eyes and hands. And 45 Colt is my "new" favorite cartridge. Of course I did research before bidding on it.

I had a couple of questions on what I said about frame differences. I was making a comparison between frames on the over run guns. To make things clearer (hopefully) here are some pictures.

Thank you for the detailed and illustrated answer. I have not noticed those differences but will look at my adjustable sighted N frames and see if they are present.
