1975 "C" Series Vintage not perfect but o.k. for a
43 year old piece.
Not sure if the ring hammer was a later add on or not.
"Beer Can" adjustable sights will take some getting use to.
Trying to find some Spegel Grips off the net no luck..yet.

I've only heard the "beer can" reference to the GP sights, but I haven't heard everything. :)

When searching for stocks, are you using the correct name of "Spegel"?

Nice gun.

Yeah, good luck with that, not likely to find any. I don't think $100+ is too much to pay, but there is a lengthy wait if you order them.
My 69 "T" series I bought this year, I got lucky, it came with the original red lined rug too.

Really nice pickup. That ring hammer would have been added; only the very early "C" series (transition from "T" to "C" ) 1969 through ca. 1971 had the ring hammer. After that the "C" sported the spur hammer. The difference is shown here; L to R-'67 "T", '77 "C", and '85 MKII:)

Nice! I blew out my Hi Power's barrel today thanks to a squib I didn't catch. The 2nd round pushed the bullet out, but not before tearing the barrel apart. Now the slide is jammed shut.

Very nice BHP pistol. I had one from 1977 and sold it many years ago and wished that I hadn't done that. Mine had the "beer can" factory adjustable sights as people now of days call that sight. Never could see where they got that name. I have a feeling somebody is fixing to tell me.

I've been carrying my HP a lot lately. It had a lot of miles on it before I got it for a pretty good price just before they were discontinued, but shoots absolutely great. I've been thinking about sending it to Garthwaite for a safety upgrade, bluing, and possibly a slide rail peening if he thinks it's necessary.

Congrats. I had several C series guns, including a couple with the "beer can" style sights. Lot of people didn't, but I actually liked the adjustable sights. In spite of what has been written about the guns with the "hump" type feed ramp not feeding hollow points, all of my C series and earlier Hi Powers fed hollow points reliably. Down to three Hi Powers now, a GP, T series and MKIII, but still very much a fan.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing! It is the gun I shoot best and I LOVE shooting it. (Shown with different grips)

What do you mean by "safety upgrade"? I find the safety perfectly fine as is.

Bought a Hi-Power new back in 1973, foolishly sold it a few years later. But when I saw some Gunsite smithed versions a decade or so later, knew I had to get another.

This is a 72C like my original. I did add the Cylinder and Slide hammer and sear, Spegel handles and Novak sights. Although I own several 9 mm pistols, if I am honest this one is probably the best.

Nice BHP. I have one with the beer can sights and I like 'em although they are tall. Pic of my 1981 nickel with fully checkered grips from CZ Custom, around $50. This one has an MMC rear sight.

I find the safety lacking when compared to my 1911. Folks on these forums have said that Garthwaite's custom safety lever is both slightly larger like a 1911 and give a more positive click when switched on or off.

I figure while it is there I'll have him blue it and take a look at peening the slide, which is pretty loose though not too bad.

BHP

My S&Ws are my pride and joys....but I do have an affinity for the Browning HP. Have three of them, two MK3s(black epoxy finish) ...one with forged frame....one with cast....and when Browning announced the end of the BHP...I snagged one of the last...highly polished, deep deep blued..adjustable sights.

The blued one has the rosewood grips from Hogue...as Spegel...was not answering his phone...one of the black ones has the factory poly/thumb rest...and the other I just put on a "Palm Swell" grip from VZ..

I admire and desire a set of Spegels...but the VZs are very nice
