Hello everyone. I am in the market for 2 (two) budget red dots. My budget is for them to fall between the $150-200 range. That would be a total of $400 for both. The reason I am wanting two is because I've got the S&W M&P 15OR .223/5.56 and the 15-22 is ordered.

I currently have the Bushnell Trophy 1x28 (the 4 reticle version) on the AR-15 and it's held up pretty well over time. Sometimes I get a flicker in the reticle because the battery seems to get loose, but other than that... nothing to major. I've been looking around and reading and thought I'd ask your opinions. A couple that I've spotted online have been these, again any suggestions / ideas are greatly appreciated. I don't 'plan' to use these for life threatening situations or hunting... I'm a range type guy... so keep that in mind. I just can't make myself pay what they want for the acog, trijicon, aimpoints etc. Especially since I'm wanting my guns to have the same optics on both.

Amazon.com: Bushnell Tactical Elite 1x32 Red/Green T-Dot Riflescope: Sports & Outdoors (Bushnell Trophy)

Primary Arms Multi-Reticle Red Dot Sight (Primary Arms)

Vortex StrikeFire Red/Green Dot (Vortex Strikeforce Red / Green)

These are just some of the ones I've spotted and thought I'd like. Any reviews or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I'm verry partial to the Burris fastfire 2

Scopes - rifle scopes, handgun scopes, hunting scopes by Burris Optics

a verry clear 4moa dot, visible in bright sunlight and near pitch dark.
I have one on my uzi and saiga 12 and preforms great on both.
I don't have one on the 15-22, got a scope on that one, but am thinking about putting one on a 45° mount

that was actually one of my top picks when i was shopping for a scope. if i recall it's a little on the small side for a rifle.

the vortex sparc is good too.

I disagree about the SPARC Vortex. I have one on my AR and the field of view is to small and with the magnifier it cuts off the bottom 1/4 of the sight and pushed the red dot to the bottom 1/4 of the lens. I made a huge mistake buying the SPARC and would not recommend it to anyone.

just screwed the magnifier on mine, and it does decrease the field of view, but if you are shooting 100 yards it's not horrible. the dot is still dead center.

Don't forget about www.RRAGES.com great selection and tons of pics for reference. I personally haven't ordered from them but I hear nothing but good things in this forum.

My buddy has the SPARC Vortex and it is a great little red dot, super bright and solid. However I too noticed the drastic field of view reduction with the "magnifier". I guess that's what you get when you just screw a little piece of glass on the end.

yes, it's small, that is a plus ;-)
It's light, and as it is a dot ( no magnification) i shoot with both eyes open.
The burris small edges make that my field of view is only limited to my own eyesight.
The size of the glass is immaterial.

some shooters I know, found that the dot in the Vortex was a bit elongated if they did not align their eye perfectly. Not really blurred, but more of a line instead of a dot .

I like the looks of the Barska M16. Looks like a ACOG and from what ive seen has gotten good reviews. Try Optics planet. $ 130. ish

I've got 2 Vortex StrikeFire's Green/Red Dots, one on my Sig 522 and the other on my Hi-Point 995TS Carbine.

They're both Excellent Scopes, and I haven't had any issues with the Elongated Dot. Both have a perfect Round Dot, with/without the 2X Doubler attached. I like that I can switch from Green to Red Dot, depending on what color Target and Background I'm working with.

I bought one with the Low Mount Hunter's Ring, and the other with the High Mount AR-15 Ring. They both fit Picatinny Rails just fine. If you're going to order one, just make sure which Ring you want.

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

Check out the Nikon Red Dot. Several dial in dot sizes, and variable brightnesses. Under $250 @ Amazon. This looks like a good scope, but I have not seen any posts on it in this forum.

Check out the Sightmark on Amazon, $41.00 buck-a-rooos.. Dam well built Red Dot, has all the nice things, snap covers, ele. & wind. caps with rubber retainer, cantilever mount (not quick release) but very nice and solid. All for $41.00, for a22LR, plinking, you just can't win.. Since you need two, go for it.. Good luck
