I dropped the $$$ on a used one for backup purposes.

I like my 40 and 9 I already have and was looking for a possible spare but wanted it as cheap as possible. Pretty was not a requirement.

These guns are not in "bad" shape and need a serious cleaning. I put mine in the ultrasonic cleaner for quite some time w/o the grip panel. (I find that removing the action as well helps get it spotless)

From what others have said, these are a gem but need a bit of LTC. I might swap the recoil spring once I get my APEX duty-carry kit in.

The mags all need to be field stripped and cleaned up as well.
Followers look fine but the bodies are warn. Might strip them and then apply Alumi-hyde II later this spring.

$349 shipped with 3 mags and my FFL only charges $15.

Hi guess it makes sense if you follow buds police trade ins

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the M&P 9 Full Size trade ins that buds has on their PD trade in page. I'm thinking about getting my woman one for when she gets her CCW.

Well 2 seconds on their website and we are talking about the M&P. The M&P part was obvious since he was talking about dropping a Apex kit in. And the price of $349 could be the 9/40 or 9c. Their prices are running between $319 and $399 depending on condition.

Not sure I'd drop a whole gun into a sonic cleaner, and I wouldn't be stripping magazines and applying some finish to them either. I'd just give the gun a good cleaning, including removing the striker to clean the striker channel, clean the magazines as well, and if they didn't work that well I'd just buy new magazines.

Just a follow up for those that were asking.

It is a 9mm full size M&P police trade in. I paid $349 (cash discount) and $15 for my FFL transfer.

It came with the 2 extra grip sizes, factory box, and no other docs. Inventory sticker on the side was not helpful in finding out which department had originally purchased this gun.

There is some minor holster wear on the slide and the rest of the frame looks like its in pretty good shape.

The barrel, although it "look" clean was quite filthy. So the slide and barrel went into the sonic cleaner for 20min and came out fine. Same for the frame. I think Buds did a decent job of cleaning them up, but, I have access to a sonic cleaner and it was no trouble.

I picked up an APEX duty-carry kit from Midway last week as they were having a $10 off $50 coupon I took advantage of. So I have under $450 into it and no regrets.

[I do not like glock grips and now I have a good reason to sell off my G3 Glock 17]
