Which 158 grain bullet is best for the S&W model 14 in Distinguished Revolver competition, the SWC or the LRN. Is the same bullet used for both 50 and 25 yds, or is one specific for each distance?

Boils down to personal preference and which bullet shoots best from the gun.

For scoring I personally prefer SWC for the cleaner holes where round nose leaves a "puckered" hole.

The 158 WC & SWC is easier to score because of the nice clean holes they make, but I personally believe the 158 grain RNL is more accurate probably due to its shape not scratching off any lead in the forcing cone area. I switched from the WC & SWC to the RNL many years ago and have never looked back. For the informal target shooting I do these days, splitting hairs scoring is not an issue for me.
